What defines Measurable Outcomes, HLMO, MLMO, and LLMO?
A. Objective: To understand and appreciate the Inuit culture
Outcomes:
- HLMO: Speculate as to what the Inuit culture might be like today if they had not come in contact with the white settlers giving three examples to support your conclusion.
- MLMO: Compare and contrast the Early Inuit culture to that of today's Inuit, giving three similarities and three differences.
- MLMO: Create your own soapstone-like carving based on the Inuit technique, but using a bar of soap.
- MLMO: Compare and contrast one traditional Inuit celebration to a celebration in our culture giving 2 similarities and differences.
- LLMO: List three important Inuit customs and the significance of each
- LLMO: Identify and demonstrate three different games or contests of the Natik Days and share them with the class.
- LLMO: Read an Inuit legend and identify at least two aspects of the culture and/or environment that are incorporated into the explanation of the phenomenon it describes.
- LLMO: In a paragraph describe the way in which the Inuit passed on knowledge and tradition from one generation to the next
- LLMO: List three types of traditional art that are symbolic of the Inuit culture.
- LLMO: In a paragraph identify the name of the Inuit medicine man and his role in society.
B. Objective : To understand the Inuit way of life and their relationship with their environment
Outcomes:
- HLMO: Design a code of contact for your own family that encompasses the concepts of peaceful existence and respect for your environment and community giving 4 rules for each domain.
- MLMO: In a paragraph compare and contrast two similarities and differences in the two methods of transport the Inuit use and decide which one you would find most convenient to use.
- MLMO: Compare and contrast a day in the life of yourself to that of an Early Inuit child, giving three similarities and three differences.
- LLMO: Identify a kayak and an umiak and describe their role in everyday life.
- LLMO: List three types of skins used by the Inuit to make clothing.
- LLMO: Identify the two types of shelters used by the Early Inuit people.
- LLMO: Locate and label the main geographical features and villages in the territory of Nunavut.
- LLMO: In a paragraph describe two hunting and one fishing technique used by the Inuit.
C. Objective: To understand the Inuit's relationship with their environment and how they survive in the Arctic.
Outcomes:
- HLMO: In a paragraph state whether you think the Inuit's use of fur clothing is justifiable and appropriate, or not, giving two reasons for your choice. State with two supporting reasons whether you think that the case is the same for us.
- MLMO: Compare and contrast the clothing of the Inuit to that of your own giving three similarities and differences.
- MLMO: Compare and contrast the methods of transportation of the Inuit to that of our culture, giving two similarities and differences and reasons for the differences.
- MLMO: Compare and contrast our attitude towards the environment to that of the Early Inuit giving three similarities and differences.
- LLMO: In a paragraph explain why the Inuit had to be in tune with climactic changes and give one example illustrating how their survival could be dependent on this.
- LLMO: List three ways the Inuit show respect for their environment.
- LLMO: List three special problems facing the people living in the Arctic and how they overcome them.
