Plugged Into Perth
After recovering from their ARIA win for their debut single Get Set, Melbourne's Taxiride have taken to the road. They've been on tour with Mark Lizotte and showing off their debut and gold album, Imaginate, and playing to enthusiastic houses across the country.
On Saturday night in Perth, the band play their own show at the Raffles. It will be Taxiride's first full electric performance in WA. For this tour, they will also add to their line-up a drummer, bass player and keyboard player.
"With Mark, we're doing a good hour set," says one of the band's singers and guitarists, Jason Singh. "We're also doing a couple of B-sides and a few other things. We're cranking the set and I'm really happy with it. Because we were a studio band, as well as being live musicians separately, and a songwriting band, it's good to put all the pieces together and see what we can build.
"Though we've done a lot of touring in the US, we haven't done this kind of rock show. There we were always playing with half acoustic and half electric guitars. This time with extra players, all four of us are playing all the guitar parts. Our songs like all those guitars."
