The Year That Changed it All Part 1

Ch. 1

"Yes! Spanish!" Justin cheered as he entered room 108. "Nap time!" He added. Two boys followed him in as he turned around to face them. The three of them wore Varsity jackets, each rightfully earned in basketball, football, and volleyball. The bright red and white jackets caught the eyes of most of the girls already gathered in the room. A few of them glanced at the three longingly while others called their names to get some acknowledgment.

"Hey baby." Came a seductive voice behind Justin just as someone's arm snaked its way around his waist. Justin turned around to see who it was when his lips were trapped in a pair of newly glossed ones. He pulled away quickly to be faced with big brown eyes and a million dollar smile.

"Diana." He said expressionless. The kiss didn't phase him seeing that's how he was greeted everyday. A "groupie" as the guys called her and many others.

"Hey sexy. Lookin' good." She looked him up and down taking the end of his jacket in between her new acrylics. "Red really is your color."

"Uh, you're looking good too." He said as he stepped back to look at her. She had on a baby blue midriff tank top and flared blue jeans. Her dirty blonde hair was cascading down her shoulders as she stood there twirling a strand between her fingers.

"You really think so?" She asked waiting for him to boost her ego. Justin just raised an eyebrow. Not really saying yes and not really saying no. "Well you know, I try."

"Yep, I'm sure the starvation did wonders for your figure." The blonde standing with Justin whispered to the other guy.

"What was that Lance?" Diana asked with interest.

"Just agreeing with Justin." Lance, the blonde, lied with a smirk.

"Awe, that's so sweet of you." She said as she crinkled her nose flirtatiously. "Oh, hey JC." She said to the other guy.

"Hey, Di." JC said barely giving her a second glance. He had better things to do with his life than give all the girls that hit on the guys the time of day. Diana kept up the meaningless conversation with Justin as Justin continued nodding her off. She took her hand every once and a while and ran her fingers through Justin's blonde curls as JC and Lance stood by laughing at Justin's anguish.

"Well, Diana," Justin said looking around the room for an excuse to escape. "I really should get a seat. You know, seats in the back go fast." He said with a cheesy grin.

"Oh but I saved you one over there in the second row." She said pointing to the desks. Justin rolled his eyes as she took his hand to lead him to their seats.

"Uh you know what Diana?" Justin said stopping before she could sit him down. "If I sit too close to the board, the writing gives me migraines." She did a double take, weirded out by what he said. "But thanks anyway babe." Justin breathed a sigh of relief and made a mad dash. And with that he ran to the back of the class, leaving Diana standing just a little confused. Meanwhile Lance and JC had stood by laughing at the whole scenario. Justin's encounters with Diana had never been so funny. If only someone had a video camera.

"Well, we should grab a seat." JC said as him and Lance stood at the door.

"Sure should." Lance said as him and JC began to make their way to the desks.

"Why don't you ask one of your groupies to move for you. You'd be sure to get the best seat in the classroom." A voice said behind the two. Lance and JC turned around to be faced with two annoyed expressions. The two of them rolled their eyes at the girls.

"It's about time you moved away so we could actually get in the class." The other girl said.

"Hello to you too." JC said with a smirk.

"Michelle, do you recall saying hello?" the second girl said.

"Not really." She replied.

"Lizzy with an attitude problem, nothing new here." Lance said to the second girl. Lizzy walked closer to the guys.

"Lance and JC with a pea-brain, nothing new here either." Michelle giggled at her witty friend as Lizzy winked in triumph.

"Cute." JC said as he walked away from the girls. Lance just gave the two a look and followed JC to the desks. Lizzy turned back to Michelle and gave her a high five just as the final bell rang for class. The teacher walked into the classroom passing the girls.

"Ladies, could you please take a seat?" She said as Michelle and Lizzy turned to find a place to sit. The class was pretty full and the only two seats left together were in the back of the class. The girls made their way to the two desks not noticing who was next to them.

"Howdy neighbor." Came a deep voice directly behind Michelle. She looked and there was Lance giving her an irritatingly perfect smile. She looked to his right and there sat Justin waving to her evilly and in front of Justin, JC did the same.

"Great." Michelle said slumping in her desk.

"Good afternoon class." The teacher said as she stepped in front of her desk. A few students returned the welcome as others propped their heads in the palm of their hand ready to fall asleep. "My name is Mrs. Sanchez. And you all are about to embark on a long trip down the Spanish for Spanish Speakers road." As the teacher said this, JC, Lance, and Justin sat up a little more alert. "This class should be enjoyable if you let it. You all should do very well, seeing that this is something you all speak fluently." By now the guys were fully alert and ready to make a mad dash to the door. The teacher continued. "Now don't let that fool you because I expect all of your Spanish to go from good, to perfect." By now Justin had his hand raised in the air completely.

"Uh, Miss! Miss!!!" He said impatiently.

"You couldn't possibly have a question yet." The teacher said with a smile.

"No, that's not it, I think that we're in the wrong class." He said pointing to himself, JC and Lance.

"I don't think so." Mrs. Sanchez said as she walked to her class list. "What are your names?"

"Justin"

"Lance"

"Josh" They all said one after the other. The teacher ran her finger down the list and found their names.

"Nope, here you are, Lance Bass, Joshua Chasez, and Justin Timberlake." She set the list back on the desk and looked back up to the class. Justin sat back down and listened to the teacher just a little apprehensively.

"Now," Mrs. Sanchez continued. "To better your Spanish, you must practice speaking it. So, from now on, there will be no English spoken in this classroom." At that, Justin went shooting out of his seat.

"Ok, Miss, now I know we're in the wrong classroom." He shot out.

"En Español por favor." She said.

"What???" Justin asked not understanding a thing the teacher had just said.

"She's telling you to say it in Spanish brainiac." Lizzy whispered to him.

"I knew that!" He shot back.

"Sure you did." She replied.

"I mean, Mrs. Sanchez, I don't speak Spanish. I'm supposed to be in the beginners class." Justin whined.

"Same here." JC said as Lance nodded. The teacher looked at them pretending she didn't understand what they were saying.

"In Spanish boys, in Spanish." Michelle said mocking them completely.

"I don't speak the language!!!" Justin yelled to her.

"Hey don't yell at me!" Michelle said getting up from her desk to face him.

"Señorita, por favor!" The teacher said trying to calm Michelle down.

"Perdoname." Michelle apologized as she took her seat. She rolled her eyes at Justin and sat as Lizzy shook her head at the spectacle.

"What did they just say?" Lance asked Justin. Justin shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't know, that's why I'm not supposed to be here. I have no idea what-_" Justin stopped talking to Lance looked back up to the teacher. "Miss!" He yelled still standing.

"Si, Señor Timberlake." She said focusing in on him. Justin looked confused.

"Ugh!" Lizzy said turning to him. "She's acknowledging you. Just talk!"

"Uh, was I talking to you? No!" He said. Lizzy turned back around ignoring his attitude. "But seriously Miss, we are NOT supposed to be here. The office made a mistake or something, but we in no way, speak, or understand this language. I can barely order a Gordita from the Taco Bell menu." Justin pleaded.

"Oh my God!" Lizzy said as she burst out into laughing hysterics. Michelle did the same.

"Excuse me, I don't think I said anything funny!" Justin said tapping Lizzy on the shoulder.

"No actually it was hilarious!" She said tearing up from the laughing.

"Look Lizzy, I really think you need to shut up already and stop being such a bitch." He said hovering over her at her desk.

"How dare you call me a bitch!" Lizzy yelled standing up and pushing Justin by the shoulders.

"Hey if the shoe fits." He replied evilly.

"Yeah if it fits, stick it up your ass!" She yelled. By now JC stood up and stood by Justin.

"Come on man, she's not worth your time."

"Stay out of this JC! Who do you think you are to butt in all the time?!" She said turning to him.

"Excuse me!" He said. By now, Mrs. Sanchez had made her way to the back of the class to stop the madness.

"Señorita, por favor. No mas!" She said trying to stop the arguing.

"Hey wait a minute," Michelle said in Lizzy's defense. "He started it. He was the one who called her a bitch." She said pointing to Justin.

"She made fun of him first." Lance said standing up for Justin.

"Look," Mrs. Sanchez yelled to stop the screaming. "The young ladies are right, Mr. Timberlake shouldn't have used that derogatory term."

"Oh now she speaks English!" Justin said throwing his hands in the air in frustration.

"So are you saying this is all his fault?!" JC asked bewildered almost acting like Justin's lawyer.

"But it's not hers either!" Michelle yelled.

"He's the one who called me a bitch!" Lizzy pointed.

"But you made fun of me from the moment I started talking!" Justin added. This started back and forth. Justin, JC, Lance, Lizzy and Michelle started quite the argument. They all were screaming at the same time explaining and blaming. Mrs. Sanchez lost track of it all and finally just put her hands to her ears. She had no idea what to say.

"Ok STOP!!!" She yelled. The five of them quieted down and looked at her. "All five of you, get to the principal!" She said pointing to the door.

"What?!" They said at the same time.

"You heard me! That's the only solution. You all refuse to work this out as human beings, then that's how its gonna be." She said as she walked back to the front of the classroom. "Get your stuff and get out!" Lizzy and Michelle looked at each other and then back the teacher in disbelief. They had hardly ever gotten in trouble. Mrs. Sanchez nodded letting them know that she was for real.

"This is not happening." Lizzy said as she grabbed her satchel.

"We are so dead," Michelle said as she walked to the door. She felt all the eyes of the people in the class on her. She was so embarrassed. The girls exited the class followed by the three boys. Lizzy turned to face them just as the teacher slammed the class door shut.

"Your dead!" She said on the verge of tears. Ch. 2

They had reached the principal's office and were tired of the lecture they were being given. They were just waiting for the magic words from the principal.

"Okay you guys are dismissed. I hope I don't see you in here again," Mrs. Martinez said. Hearing those words the girls immediately ran out of the office. The guys just followed them out, but headed in a different direction. They all needed to get to practice before getting yet another lecture by their coaches. Meanwhile, Michelle and Lizzy went on a search for a vending machine seeing as they got a sudden urge for food.

"Why don't any of these vending machines have food?," Lizzy whined. They headed up the stairs to the last vending machine, the only one they hadn't checked. 'Please let there be food' Michelle thought. They reached the machine and squealed with happiness that the machine was full and waiting for them to get food. Michelle took out her dollar and attempted to put in the machine. The machine wouldn't take it.

"I'll do it," Lizzy told her, snatching the dollar out of her hand. Lizzy struggled with the machine until it finally took the dollar. As she turned around to flash Michelle an 'I did it' smile, she saw someone trip over their own feet and drop a pile of clothes into a puddle.

"Joe man, are you ok?" The guy walking with him asked. Lizzy squinted to see that it was Joey and Chris, Lance, JC and Justin's friends.

"Joey?!?!" She screamed as she dropped her Snickers on the floor and ran to him.

"No I'm fine, I_" He was turning to see who was standing next to him. "Oh it's you." He said turning away from Lizzy.

"I'm not worried about you, you Neanderthal! The costumes!!!" She yelled pointing to the heap of now wet clothes in the puddle. Those costumes were for the school's production of The King and I. Lizzy and Joey were both starring in it. Lizzy as Anna and Joey as the King.

"Yeah, I know." He said as he stood up and brushed himself off.

"They're ruined!" She whined.

"No they're not! They just need to be cleaned."

"Yeah, and whose gonna end up doing that? Me!" She screamed. She stood there lecturing Joey just as three other girls walked up. Hearing the commotion and recognizing Lizzy's loud voice anywhere, they made their way over. Chris saw the three girls.

"Uh oh! PMS patrol!" He said as they made their way to Michelle.

"Bite me Chris!" One of them said. Lizzy noticed the girls.

"Jessie, hold me back! I may ram Joey's head into the vending machine!" She said walking to them, over-dramatically. The blonde girl laughed.

"What now Liz?" she asked.

"That!" Lizzy pointed to the costumes. "That is what Kristin."

"Oh that's gotta suck." Jessie said looking at the costumes.

"Lizzy what happened?" The last girl, Jackie, asked concerned.

"Joey! That's all I have to say!"

"Oh!" They all nodded. It made perfect sense now.

"Hey wait a minute! What's that supposed to mean?" Joey asked insulted.

"It means that you're an idiot, and I'm gonna kick your ass!" Lizzy said as she was about to lunge at Joey.

"Whoa! Wait a sec!" Michelle said grabbing Lizzy. "Don't wanna end up in the principal's office again!" She said easing Lizzy down.

"You were in the principal's office?!" Jackie asked in shock.

"Oh!" Chris said with an evil grin towards Michelle. "Wait till' mom finds out!" Chris and Michelle were fraternal twins. They had nothing in common except their last name and birth date. They were as different as night and day and fought every other minute.

"You wouldn't dare!" Michelle said stepping in front of Lizzy.

"Oh yes I would!" he replied.

"Chris I'm gonna rip out each and everyone of those braids!" She screamed running towards him. Lizzy grabbed on to her just in time.

"Come on Michelle, don't wanna end up in the principal's office again." She said mocking Michelle earlier. Michelle composed herself and turned to Lizzy.

"Funny." She said going back to the vending machine to try and get her food. "By the way Chris, you're giving me a ride home today."

"Says who?"

"Says me! I refuse to take the damn bus home and you have the car so deal with it!" She said attempting to stick the dollar into the machine.

"Since when do you tell me what to do?"

"Since I'm the oldest!" She shot out.

"By a whole two minutes!"

"Still! I am!"

"Ok fine! Be in the parking lot in five minutes or your ass is stuck in school!" He said.

"Whatever!" She said turning back to the stubborn vending machine.

"Joey! Let's go!!!" Lizzy yelled to Joey who was picking up the last costumes from the floor. "We have rehearsal! Come on!"

"I'm coming! Stop with the bitch fest!" He said starting to walk to the auditorium.

"Would you guys stop calling me a bitch! Ugh!" She said running after him.

"Ok…" Jackie said a little confused.

"Part of the reason we got stuck in the principal's office," Michelle said as she finally got her dollar in the machine.

"Well come on Jackie we better get going," Jessie said as they headed down the stairs. Jessie was giving Jackie a ride home. Michelle waved goodbye and now stood in front of the machine trying to figure out what she wanted to eat.

"I'm leaving in exactly five minutes. If your not there I leave," Chris repeated as he walked away. Michelle waved him off not caring in the least what he had to say. Kristin laughed at the two.

"I'm going to cheerleading practice, I'll talk to you later," Kristin told Michelle. "You better hurry up," Kristin said as she flung her duffel over her shoulder and started off.

"He wouldn't leave me here." Michelle called after. "Bye!" she turned back to the machine and finally chose what she was going to eat. She pressed A2 and waited for the Doritos to fall down. The bag started to ease out of the ring but got caught at the last second. "Damn it!" She yelled as she began to violently shake the machine. She'd be a little longer than she thought. Ch. 3

Michelle finally got her Doritos bag and started to slowly go down the stairs. She approached the parking lot and began searching for Chris's car. It was nowhere to be seen. She walked up and down the parking lot checking every car looking for Chris' black Eclipse but, it was crystal clear, he was gone.

"Damn it he left me here," Michelle screamed to no one in particular. She couldn't believe he had actually done that. She would've looked for a ride, but all of her options had already left. Lizzy was still at rehearsal, Kristin was in cheerleading practice, Jessie and Jackie had already gone home, and she'd much rather hitchhike than ask one of Chris' friends. The only choice Michelle had was to walk home.

'Here I go' she thought as she adjusted her backpack and pulled her black hair into a ponytail. The walk home took forever. Michelle was gonna pass out because of all the heat. But just as she started feeling better, it started to pour like crazy. She had no other choice but to keep walking home in the rain. Her clothes got soaked, her hair got soaked, and her shoes had formed little lakes inside. The walk in the rain seem to take even longer than in the heat because of how harsh the rain was coming down. She finally reached her house and struggled to open the door. She attempted putting the key in the lock but she was shaking so hard that it wouldn't go in. She wasn't sure if she was shaking because she was so cold, or if she was shaking from the rage she felt towards Chris. She finally got the key in and slammed the door open. She looked like an assassin ready to kill her victim. As she walked into the house she spotted Chris sitting in the living room staring at the TV. Looking at him made her furious. He heard the door open and looked over at Michelle who just stood at the door, motionless. "Whoa. What happened to you?" He asked, oblivious to how upset she actually was. Michelle dropped her backpack, ran into the room and punched Chris right in the face.

"What the hell was that for???" Chris asked as he put his hand on his face.

"That was for leaving me in school…" Michelle replied. Then she punched him again.

"…and that was for my walk in the rain." She finished. With all the screaming going on, their parents came into the room as Michelle punched Chris the second time.

"Young lady, what do you think your doing?!" Her mother yelled as she ran to Chris' side. She looked at his eye where a bruise was forming. She looked back up at Michelle "This is very unacceptable. You're grounded" their mother shouted.

"What!?! He deserved that for leaving me at school with no way of getting home," Michelle yelled.

"Is this true Chris?" his mother asked looking back down at Chris.

"Well she took too long. I told her five minutes and I meant it" he replied as if he had done nothing wrong.

"And because of him I had to walk home in the rain" Michelle shot out.

"Christopher Alan Kirkpatrick how could do that to your sister?" At that perfect moment, Michelle sneezed. "She could've gotten pneumonia. You're grounded!" their mother yelled.

"Great now you got me grounded," Chris yelled.

"Excuse me!! It's not like I'm not grounded too!!" she fired back.

"Whatever you're gonna pay," Chris warned.

"Enough! You are both grounded. I don't wanna hear anything from you two." Their mother said walking back into the kitchen in a huff. Their father turned to them with a disappointed look on his face.

"As for your punishment, you know you mother and I have the charity drive next month, you're both working it." their father said. Chris and Michelle were about to protest but their dad cut in. "And I don't want any complaints from you! This is final!" With that their father walked out of the room and into the kitchen with their mom.

"I can't believe this. I get in trouble cause you leave me in school," Michelle said frustrated. Chris was about to fight back, but Michelle walked out of the room just in time. She went up to take a warm shower since she had just gotten rained on.

"You know, I really can't stand you!!!" Chris screamed as Michelle went upstairs.

"Right back at ya grease ball!!!" She screamed, as the door to the bathroom slammed shut.

"UGH!!! CHICKS!!!" He yelled in frustration to no one at all.
