Mini-comic #1
By Leonie O'Moore/t.g.tokyo
available from There goes Tokyo...
More of a mini-comic teaser than a full comic this title by tgtokyo's Leonie O'Moore serves to introduce the uninitiated to the popular Vampire daisy.
The daisy has been lurking around since the mid-nineties and has picked up a tidy fan base, and regulars to his online adventures will see why. With more than a passing nod to vintage horror movies the vampire daisy of doom does exactly what it says on the tin, but what sets it apart from any other vampire title I've read is its charm. This isn't the work of someone looking to poke fun at Lugosi, Christopher Lee and their ilk, but someone who genunely loves the genre. Less of a spoof and more of an homage, but with a twist.
This mini comic sees Daisy at a dinner party with fellow denizens of the dark when a vampire hunter comes a calling, all new short strips and some great gallery pictures.
Featuring a fish guy (think Abe Sapien meets Magnum P.I.), Abbey van Helsing, a one eyed chicken monster and a sort of midget nosferatu, this is quirky, original and genuinely charming. If ever a comic needed a collected edition and a merchandising contract.
