The MBZ 280 SL that is being offered for auction on eBay here has been fully suspension-off restored. This is an American Spec 280SL which has been fitted with beautiful German European headlights, bumpers and speedometer to give it an European sporty look.
The 280SL presented here is a fine example of a suspension-off restored MBZ 280SL roadster.

Attention was paid to minute details down to the proper original decals. Nuts and bolts were cadmium plated to have that original appearance. The car has been restored to its original specifications- ever popularly beautiful light beige, dark German brown leather interior, air conditioning, 2 tops: Brown German canvas top and a beautiful restored 280SL hard top with chrome ski racks

The interior compartment has been nicely renewed and equipped with new comfortable original German leather. Dash pieces, soft to cover, door panels, seats were all correctly done in original German leather. Headliner was replaced with original German material. New original German loop carpet was put in. All the wood pieces were redone correctly as original factory finished wood pieces and they look beautiful. Original working Becker radio. Original steering wheel is in almost perfect condition with no signs of any cracks. A new white plastic insert in the shift console has also replaced the old cracked one.

This 280SL had been off the road for a long time before I purchased it and restored it. The previous seller claimed it has been a relatively low-mileage car in refernce to its age. Indiscriminately of the 280SL's past history and because of its good potential condition, the car was set out to be fully restored.

Driving this MBZ 280 SL is a joy. Once you depress the gas pedal, you feel the horse power delivered by the 6-cylinder power train. The 280SL performance: 170 HP @5750 RPM, 0 to 60 mph in 10 sec for an automatic transmission 280SL. It is a sheer pleasure to drive this car.
Wherever you drive this beauty, the 280SL will turn heads on the road.
Precision steering, tight suspension, new steering linkages and suspension rubber components etc., all four new wheel disc brake system with new Michelin tires provide you as the driver the pleasurable comfort and safety in today's traffic. The entire hydraulic brake system was rebuilt- new master cylinder, new brake calipers, rotors have been turned, all new brake hoses.
This MBZ 280SL looks gorgeous from any angle. The correct original German Glassurit paint job speaks for itself. The front and back suspension system, wire loom, engine, transmission etc were all removed from car prior to paint. Hardtop was disassembled for paint. Hardtop chrome pieces were rechromed and reinstalled back on car after paint job was completed

The chrome pieces on the MBZ 280 SL here are shiny and beautiful. They were either replaced with excellent original parts or have been quality-rechromed. All the seals and rubber parts were replaced with new German rubber seals. The entire exhaust system is brand new including brackets.

This MBZ 280SL has never been in the rain and covered less than 600 miles since its restoration. This 280SL has a beautiful German dark brown new convertible canvas top installed.
A particularly nice feature of this MBZ 280SL is that it is rust-free California car and has the original front fenders and nose. This 280SL engine and transmission were overhauled. The automatic transmission is a smoothly operated transmission. The engine bay was meticulously detailed

Came with this beautiful 280SL is a set of original MBZ 280SL tool kit, owner manual, a German tire jack, and a fully inflated spare wheel is secured in the trunk of this 280SL. The original american speedometer will be reinstalled in car to replace the European speedometer if the car is sold in the US.
This MBZ 280SL in this condition is priceless for a genuine SL collector. I have seen 280SL s in this similar condition were sold for over $60,000 US. If you appreciate a good quality classic 280SL, this is the 280SL you are looking for.
