| Chemeast Storprotect - T | |
Product description Storprotect-T is one of the cleverest ballast tank, void space and steel parts storage corrosion protection material ever invented. It is based on semi-drying mixture of oils and a highly polar-active corrosion inhibitor that penetrates the old rust scales and adheres to the sound steel surface, loosening the old deposits. It prevents corrosion almost completely during the inhibitor life span. After old deposits have fallen off, these can be removed and an additional treatment round can be given to replace the material consumed in descaling process. No expensive pre-descaling is needed and the spraying of the product is easily done even with a standard air driven barrel pump, contrary to the required heavy duty machinery for high viscosity coatings or pure barrier coatings. When necessary, the product can be floated or parts dipped in it. The product is essentially non toxic and non flammable allowing for repairs in the treated areas. It resists spray water washing but can be removed with a degreaser or mild alkaline detergent. The product is colourless and due to the very thin application thickness, 75 µ in ballast tanks and between 20-75m in other protection applications, remains transparent. |

Instructions for use Flush the tanks free of dirt and debris with a fire hose pressure. This can be done with sea water but when possible we recommend a light fresh water flush after bulk removal of the debris. Spray the Storprotect on the surfaces with an ordinary barrel pump with ratio 1:4 or more, or any airless paint sprayer. Use nozzle size 0.023" to 0.030" depending on the temperature and hence viscosity. The hotter, the smaller nozzle. Spray single coat double pass which gives approximately 75µ thickness. Observe the spraying result. As soon as the product starts running down you have exceeded 75µ. In steel storage protection clean the steel parts to desired degree, either by mechanical means or by pickling and simply spray a single pass to cover the surfaces. Adjust the thickness with double pass when longer protection time is required. The consumption by spraying method varies from 1 ltr per 12 m2 to 1 ltr per 6 m2 depending on the original surface quality and structure. First value for SA 2 level surface and second for firehosed rusted surface. After treating rusted surfaces respraying is recommended within 6-12 months to ensure several years of further corrosion prevention. For floating and dipping applications contact our representatives with tank or material data (material grade, surface condition, surface area). |

| The steel temperature has to be during coating at minimum +0C or +32F. If there is a risk of temperature falling under 0C during curing time heating need be arranged to maintain the temperature above 0C. | |
| Viscosity The viscosity of the product will rise as the temperature drops. Therefore it is recommended that the material temperature in the drums is maintained above +5C. Store the product accordingly and when not possible arrange drum heating with band heaters. |
|
| Personal protection: The product is essentially non toxic. Due to the alkaline character of the active inhibitors and the auxiliary solubilizer it may dry the skin on prolonged contact. When spraying. use a dust mask and when spraying inside tanks use always forced ventilation and respirator or self containing breathing apparatus. Wash any contacts with water and synthetic soap. The product does not contain petroleum solvents and has no classifiable flash point. |
|
| Washing of the equipment: After finishing the spraying wash the hoses with alkaline universal cleaner or a solvent cleaner. During shorter break the product can be left in the hoses and equipment as it requires air to dry out. |
