Davis Lake Provincial Park

OUR LATEST TRIP TO THE OUTBACK

Begining of the trip

Davis Lake Provincial Park
Level of difficulty: 1-2
Time spent in drivers seat : 3 1/2 hours
Names of participants: Kristie, David
Amount of Vehicles for this trip: 1
Make of Vehicles: Nissan Pathfinder LE

Destination Site: As far as we could go! (15 km in from the main road)

We headed out early in the morning. It was around 8:00 am. We first got to the logging road and deflated the tires a little so that the pressure inside of them was at a comfortable 28 psi. Kristie brought the snacks, Pepsi, Coca Cola, chips, the necesseties. We brought with us also an axe, gloves, warm jackets, tooks for our heads, and a camera. The road was a little bumpy from the logging trucks that week. Pot holes were not uncommon here so watch out for those suspension breakers. Anyways we took the first trail that we saw, it veered off to the right of us. The climb was shallow at first then the streams came. They came right down the middle of the tiny trail, bushes and trees on either sides. The air that day was clean with a hint of winter in the air. Eventually that road came to an end. There was however, a beautiful waterfall at the top of it. We went back down to the pot hoed gravel logging road and headed up. The road itself seemed to be getting better as the time progressed. There were a couple of washouts but nothing a beetle bug couldn't fly through. We saw the entrance to the lake (Davis) and proceeded down the rocky trail. "Watch out!" Kristie remarked as I soon saw a monsterous pool of water. There were two pools. They ran to the top of my running boards, not quite to the trucks door but good enough for a sight seeing tour that day. The lake was beautiful. Kristie got out of the truck and took a few pictures. We sat there and looked at the clouds as they were now rolling in from the west over the mountain tops. I told her that is where I want to go today. So off we went. We left Davis for a little more adventure and breath taking views, HOPEFULLY! We decided to take a few more detours off the gravel logging road and found some astonishing sites. The view from some of the dead end trails were unbelievable. It was almost as if the whole Fraser Valley was at our mercy for those few minutes. We decided to keep on treking upwards. We reached the snow line at around noon time. The road tightened up and the trees were beating the truck pretty bad. We had to remove some fallen trees with the little axe we had brought up. It was at that time we decided to hault our trip and turn around. The trees were becoming to a plenty. All over the tiny untraveled upper road. We had a snowball fight, I wish I had a scanner so that you can see the snowball coming at the cameras lens. We headed back down the mountain and noticed a Dodge Ram 4x4. We followed him for a ways up a newly logged road and both of us found the cross ditches to be to extreme for a tiny climb. Krisite and I turned back and headed home. There is much to do up at Davis Lake Provincial Park so we decided to leave some more trails for later. Our other journeys up to the Provincial Park will yield more adventure if we leave now. We will be back!
