Metallica is going to the movies.

The venerable metal outfit has completed a new studio track which is intended for possible use on the soundtrack to "Mission Impossible 2," tentatively due out in the spring.

A publicist for Elektra Records indicated to MTV News that the new Metallica song was "in the can" but hadn't yet been accepted for use in the John Woo-directed sequel, which will once again feature Tom Cruise starring as U.S. espionage agent Ethan Hunt.

Metallica's "Mission Impossible 2" song will mark a new avenue of sorts for the group, as it will be the first time that Metallica has specifically written music for a motion picture."

Monday January 10, 2000---- Ok, I have just had my first experience with chatting with Kirk Hammett of Metallica! I was at the twec.com chat room last night as well as 200 others on the net asking questions to Kirk for 30 minutes! It all seemed cool but, I didn't get my question answered =( . Anyhow it was still cool to know I chatted with him.. According to what Kirk said the band is NOT currently in the studio recording and right now is touring and once they are done touring he said "We'll take a little break and enter the studio in a few months" So... straight from the words of the axe man himself! I have to say that MOST of the questions that the moderator submit were DAMN DUMB and wasted the time!! for example.. ONe stupid morons question was "Kirk , what is the best way to destroy a guitar and do you still do it?" .. I mean c'mon.. you 'd think the moderator would be smarter .. fuck... and if that wasn't enough some idiots didn't even believe that was kirk so half the time i was yelling at them to all shut up because all they kept saying was "He's not even Kirk.." .. all in all I liked it.. but at the end of the 30minute chat.. about 40% of the people were like saying "thats it?? 30minutes?? this sucks" And.. I have to somewhat agree that we waited an hour for 30minutes.. BUT when you think about it I understand.. because that night metallica was ready to go play for a show and are on a tight schedule while on tour =) So I think it was nice enough to see that Kirk had it in him to chat.. SO KEEP IT REAL ALL!
