The "Youth Ranch" will involve people from the City of Edmonton, City of Leduc, and the various surrounding communities working and volunteering their time to bring city and country children together providing a learning environment for each child to experience positive interaction and exposure to different types of employment oppertuinities. Allowing these children to dream visions of pupose in their lives.
Our mission is to live by Gods standards to enhance the life of a child. The creating of a facility where children will be able to observe specific skills and enjoy recreation, giving a balance to these youth’s lives, treating each person with dignity and respect. To provide a equal opportunity for each child to see a way to better their lives and be able to overcome obstacles.
Further to contributing to the three charities, the Morning Star Corporation is completing a feasibility study on the development of the Morning Star “Youth Ranch” for the purpose of enhancing children’s lives with specific life skills and recreation. Allowing city children and country children to come together to dream visions of purpose, providing a balance within their lives. If the “Youth Ranch” cannot proceed then the contribution will be divided between the three charities listed on the previous page.
On a lighter note
Possession date on the property was July 12th, 2001. Youth from Edmonton, Leduc and the surrounding area spent their summer learning alot of tasks that they may have never had the oppertunity to without the proposed "Youth Ranch". The youths were guided by the "Youth Ranch" director Dan McCaw and his lead hand John Paul. Working hard through the week and volunteering time after hours and on Saturdays.
This years focus was on maintaing the yard (Eldon Hankins, Riding Mower, extrodinaire), re-roofing the barn (Dan McCaw, John Paul, Dusty Glimm, Dave Woods, Jessie McCaw, and Lisa Danis), Renovating the house was a big job mainly left to the professionals (Dan, John, and Nedra MacDonald).
