About Me
Brief History...

Hmmmmmm...

Where to start…

Well, I was born in Indiana in 1961, and lived in Michigan until I was 13 years old. Then I moved to Mississippi when my parents decided to come back home. Yes, it was a drastic change for me at the time since I had just hit puberty and all the confusing emotions that go with that, but I must say in retrospect, that it was probably the best thing that could have happened to me. At that age and in that location there's no telling where I'd have ended up. Living in the south has many advantages, the primary one being that we still teach and live by a set of old fashioned values which are fantastic in this day and age where so much violence occurs. As we say in the South, even us adopted southerners, "Born American, Southern by the Grace of God".

I finished my high school years where my mother had attended school so many years ago, and I was the first of five children to graduate and attend college. My three older siblings had dropped out of high school without finishing their junior year. Even though I didn't complete college, I'm very proud of the fact that my youngest brother did and is a teacher now. I firmly believe in a good and ongoing education (I mean, what is life BUT an education and learning experience?) and in fact, I've attended a few night courses in AutoCad and Pattern Making.

I have been married twice now. The first time I thought was for keeps and it lasted for seventeen years. Unfortunately, we grew apart as the years went by and decided to go our separate ways. I remarried, perhaps too soon after the first time because that really was a major disaster! Maybe I should know myself better before I foist my personality off on someone else *LOL* I have no children of my own, but my dogs and cat I treat like kids…spoiled rotten!

Since I'm not the type to "toot my own horn" there's not much else to say about ME except what hobbies and interests I have. That list is so long, I could not begin to list them all, but briefly they are… Art (as in drawing and painting), sewing and needlecrafts, amateur gardening, woodworking, reading, computers, music (classic rock), and watching TV and movies (both old and new). That's a fairly brief list but all that I can think of at the moment.

I work at a furniture manufacturing company on the product development team and we are starting to come into the computer age there now. We are using CAD programs that help in the design and development of the furniture that has taken us from a very small operation of 25 employees to well over 600 employees in the 6 years we've been in operation. It's my plan to keep furthering my career in furniture design. We have a young and outstandingly successful company that has quadrupled it's sales in the six years since we've opened. You can see some of our work by visiting ROOMS TO GO in the living room section. We manufacture stationary furniture…sofas, love seats, chairs, ottomans, and sofa/sleepers…at very affordable prices.

I started doing commissioned drawings several years ago after I drew my best friend’s kids portraits and everyone remarked on their quality. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to keep a photographic record of my past work until recently, but now I take digital pictures of all my drawings. If interested in having a drawing done, please e-mail me for details. I work best with graphite (pencil) than in charcoal and other mediums. I use a durable, opaque, high-quality paper and finish the work with a fixative to prevent smudges and smearing.
