MISSISSIPPI COAST
The MS COAST WATCHERS is a family oriented group of individuals called together for the common cause of the preservation of Military Vehicles. We believe that all military vehicles should be preserved to honor the men and women who used them, both in combat and general service to our great nation.
The name MS COAST WATCHERS is based upon the group of young men and women who "searched the skies and seas" for signs of enemy aircraft and ships during World War II. The "Coast Watchers" were stationed all along the Gulf Coast and were a combination of Military Coordinators and Civilian Volunteers.
The MS COAST WATCHERS have several privately owned vehicles available for show and presentation. Each owner has attempted to protray their vehicle in the most accurate way possible and each has arms, uniforms, and equipment fitting the era of their vehicle.
As a group , the MS COAST WATCHERS participate in a variety of local car shows, festivals, military events (retirements, ceremonies, funerals) and military parades. We also allow school children the oppurtunity to experience a part of history by showing the vehicles and equipment at schools and churches. We also regularly support the MISSISSIPPI VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL and the CAMP SHELBY MUSEUM. We have monthly "meets" all across the Coast and enjoy family picnics, trail rides, and convoys. We are open to any and all dontions of military parts and equipment from any time period . Your support will keep this HISTORY alive for future generations.
Meetings are held the Second Thursday of every month,at the Military Retirement Home on highway 90, in Gulfport ( formerly the old sailor's home).Supper is at 6:00 P.M., cost $5.00, and the meeting starts at 7:00 PM.See our Calendar of events page for locations.
