REMOVE FROM THY PLACE II - AN EXODUS PARABLE
By: Tony Mel
When we read the whole book of Exodus we get to know God better. You see, he wanted to free the people of Israel completely. Pharaoh offered freeing them partially, he offered to let them worship their God as long as they stayed in Egypt being slaves. God wanted to get them out of Egypt. In our Christian life, we must understand what this means in order to alienate ourselves from the world and get closer to God. Egypt symbolizes the world, Israel symbolizes believers, Moses symbolizes Jesus. Jesus wants to free believers from the slavery of the world.
When a person receives Jesus as his Only Lord and Saviour of his life, he's making a commitment to the Lord. He is being bought by the Blood of Jesus. He is not of the world, even thought he lives in the world. Therefore, a believer must NOT participate in things of this world. That doesn't mean he can't vote, or pledge allegiance to the flag (it's his decision to do it or not), it means he won't be a worldly person, he will prefer to go to church on Wednesday rather than going to parties. The Blood of Jesus washes a sinner's heart and unshackles him; he is free from the guilt and the power of sin in his life.
A new believer must not accept the offers of his world. There are some Professed Christians that claim to be saved, yet they are living like if they were not. That person was not free of the power of sin in his life, that person was not washed by the Blood of Jesus, that person WAS NOT SAVED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Remember the verse in Matthew 7:23 "...I never knew you...". You can't be half in and half out. That's the problem with Contemporary "Christian" Music, they use the devil's lyrics and some Bible verses and mix them together. God is NOT coming down at man's level. Genesis 1:4 "And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness" Light and darkness don't match (read II Corinthains 6:14), so that means a believer must not have anything to do with the world and the things thereof.
I conclude in Jesus' Name that a believer is saved from slavery, he is bought by Jesus. He is redeemed by His Precious Blood; therefore, he must spend his life thanking Him and worshipping Him. He must spend his life in doing what is right, in serving Him and keeping His commandments. He is committed to God until death, he must glorify Him that brought him from darkness to His Wonderful Light. A Christian must be a soldier of Jesus (a true disciple, like mentioned in the first essay) to have riches in heaven, "where neither moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do notbreak through nor steal." (Matthew 6:20).
