Little Story

Stefanie walked up and down the streets of Four Corners looking for JD.

**Now where could that boy be?** she thought, exasperated.

She turned into the alley next to the jail and exclaimed, "Aha! There you are! Did you think you could hide from me forever?!?"

JD backed up against the wall as Stefanie came closer.

"Now, you know I would never hide from you, Stefanie." JD replied, laughing nervously as Stefanie placed both her hands on his chest and pinned him against the wall.

"Don't be shy, JD," she whispered softly into his ear.

"I'm not!" JD protested weakly, trying to escape the stare of Stefanie's piercing hazel eyes.

"JD, why are you so nervous? You know I would never hurt you." Stefanie whispered coyly, running her hand up and down JD's arm.

"It's just that....Well....I love Casey!" he finally blurted out.

Stefanie raised her eyebrows skeptically. "Do you, JD? Tell me the truth now, who do you really love?" Stefanie asked, now placing her hand on JD's cheek.

JD glanced around the alley to make sure no one else was listening, "Okay, I don't really love Casey. In fact, she's rather a nuisance." he confided.

"I knew it!" Stefanie exclaimed happily. "Now, answer the question: Who do you really love?" Stefanie asked sternly, fully knowing what his answer will be.

"I love my Darlins." JD grudgingly admitted.

"That's a good boy! Now, that wasn't so hard, now was it?" Stefanie said approvingly, softly patting JD's cheek. "Now, I have to be off, but don't you forget what you just told me." she said, standing on her tippy-toes to softly kiss JD on the cheek.

"Byebye!" she called out as she turned and slowly walked away.

"Bye..." JD answered softly, dazed and mezmerized.

** I am the luckiest guy in the world to have my Darlins,** he thought, sighing and slowly making his way back to the saloon.
