For Our Fallen
But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
Jeremiah 20:11 KJV

Some Thoughts On Our Nation's Tragedy

This came to me from my good friend, Kent, this morning-Sept. 12 2001, after the attack on New York's Twin Towers and the Nation's Pentagon. It really touched my Heart.

Good morning to everyone,

I do not know why I am writing this other than the fact that the last 24 hours have been the most bothersome, moving, and sobering I have experienced in a very long time. If what you read seems like I am rambling please forgive me but I feel led of God to share these thoughts.

When I first was made aware of the horrible events in New York and Washington yesterday I had mixed feelings and emotions through it all. First I felt horror at the scope of the damage to both New York and Washington. I felt compassion and sympathy for those who perished. I also felt contempt for those who did this and the fact that they value innocent lives so little.

I have been sorting out a lot of things throughout this thing and what I say now I feel God would want me to say.

I have received numerous pieces of email calling for prayer, restraint, unity of purpose, and sticking together as a country throughout this, I believe we should pray, beseech God for those of us who know Jesus Christ to be a mirror of Him through this. I believe that whatever our politics or religion ( or lack of it) we should pray for the President and the ones in places of leadership in our country. I believe we should be more loving, concerned, and compassionate to those around us who are in need. I also believe that God has allowed this to happen as a wakeup call to many of us who have been majoring on minor things and giving little if any emphasis to the important things of life.

I was heartened to see the bipartisan leadership of Congress speaking as one last night and the prayer I have is that what Sen. Dashle and the others were saying was not just dry rhetoric. I also was greatly moved at the conclusion of their remarks to hear the spontaneous singing to GOD BLESS AMERICA on the steps of the U. S. Capitol building. I just bet you won't hear the A. C. L. U.. protesting this just as they did not when we saw people openly praying after the Columbine massacre.

I have read and re-read Bruce Wilkinson's little book THE PRAYER OF JABEZ a lot recently and yesterday I spent a good bit of time with that book. If you have not read it you should. It is 93 pages and deserves to the read and assimilated by every God fearing and Christ honoring person. I hope you are praying that prayer. For those who don't know it I will give the Scripture and briefly summarize it.

"Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called him Jabez saying,'Because I bore him in pain.' And Jabez called on the God is Israel saying, 'O that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, and that I may not cause pain.' So God granted Him what he requested."
(I Chronicles 4:9-10)

Pray today for God to bless you in whatever you do. Pray that he will enlarge your scope of service. Pray that He will be with you in whatever you undertake and that you will be free from any evil so as not to cause anyone you see or meet today any pain or travail.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Nothing here is profound...but it is from my heart. May God richly bless you and yours today,

To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand,

This candle was sent to me in email by Erin. It's lit for those who have been killed or injured in this senseless attack on our country. Thanks, Erin.
The other 2 pics were made by me as my own tribute to the innocent and the rescuers who were killed senselessly.

The memorials at the top of the page were sent to me by Michelle and were made by her friend Marianne. I just wanted to thank her.
