Fool You Once, Fool You Twice

Chapter 1

“Oh get real! Everyone knows it’s haunted,” Rob said.

“You’re crazy. Only a little kid would believe a fairytale like that!” Responded Ashley.

“What are you guys talking about?” Lyndsey asked, as she, Jamie, Jacob, Dave, Amanda and Nikki walked up.

“The house on 33rd street. He actually thinks it’s haunted!” Ashley explained, rolling her eyes.

“Well that’s because it’s true,” Jacob said.

“Arrgghh,” Amanda groaned, “Not you too.”

“Hey I don’t know what to believe. Anything’s possible,” Jamie, Lyndsey’s boyfriend, admitted.

“I don’t think so,” Lyndsey said.

“Me neither,” Nikki agreed.

“Well, surprisingly, I’m with all the girls on this one. There’s nothing haunted with that house,” Dave said, giving his imput, putting his arm over Nikki’s shoulder.

“You guys wouldn’t last one night in the house,” Ashley insisted.

“Hey, it may be haunted but we’re not scared of anything,” Rob said.

“I might have to hold you to that,” Ashley grinned, walking away with Amanda, Lyndsey, Nikki and Dave.

“What do you think she means?” Rob asked.

“Who knows? Whatever it was she can worry about it,” Jamie said.

“Yeah, she’s just messing with your mind,” Jacob said softly and quietly, walking with the other guys to class.

THE NEXT AFTERNOON

“So have you guys come to your senses yet?” Ashley asked Rob, glaring at him, when everyone met the next day after school.

“I know it’s haunted,” He said.

“Ok. You’re so sure?” Lyndsey asked, “Let’s all spend one night in the house to prove it’s not haunted.”

“No way,” Jacob said.

“Chicken!” Amanda teased.

“You’re on. Let’s make it a bet,” Jamie said, butting in the conversation.

“Ok,” Lyndsey said writing something down on paper and handing it to Jamie.

“You’re on,” He replied and showed the other guys.

At first they hesitated but then everyone signed the agreement. “Let’s meet at 8pm tonight,” Amanda said.

“Don’t forget your nightlights boys,” Nikki teased, as the girls walked away laughing.

Chapter 2 (THAT NIGHT)

“Where’s Rob?” Ashley asked, walking up joining the others in front of the house.

Lyndsey shrugged her shoulders. “He’s chicken,” Ashley replied bluntly.

“Well bauk, bauk, let’s go in,” Rob laughed as he walked past them heading for the door.

They walked to the front door and Rob stopped. “Geez,” Lyndsey whispered under her breath, going ahead, opening the old, wooden door, holding Jamie’s hand.

“Ah!” Lyndsey screamed and clutched on Jamie’s arm, “Something’s on my back.” Jacob burst into laughter, “My hand!” He giggled then screamed as Nikki smacked him over the head.

“Well let’s look around. You’ll see there’s nothing haunted in here,” Amanda replied as he sighed.

They walked up the dark hallway and up the staircase. “Zzz…” Nikki whispered, teasing, “Oh, I’m so scared of this haunted,” She stopped as she heard a loud slam of a door behind them.

“What was that?” Ashley asked in an uncertain voice.

“HELP?” A mumbled scream came from Nikki.

“Nikki?” Dave yelled.

“Nikki!” Lyndsey screamed in a frightened voice, as Justin put his arm around her.

“Is this a joke?” Rob asked, looking around.

“NIKKI!” Ashley freaked slamming her fists on the walls, but Nikki was gone.

Everyone walked in a room and sat down and huddled together. “We have to get out of here,” Ashley said.

“What I we can’t?” Jamie replied.

“Of course we can. Use the door. Unless you mean--,” Lyndsey said, moving closer to Jamie, “What are we gonna do?” Lyndsey cried.

“I won’t let anything happened to you,” Jamie whispered in her ear.

“Well we have to try lea--,” Amanda mumbled. “Try what? Amanda? Amanda!” Dave screamed, scared. Jacob took Ashley’s hand, Jamie took Lyndsey’s and Rob closely followed as they moved into another room.

1 HOUR LATER

“It’s been an hour,” Lyndsey, sniffling, “What happened to them! They’re my best friends!” Lyndsey yelled as she heard and saw the door to the room creak open and she screamed.

Everyone grabbed each other’s hand. “We’re not going to split up,” Rob said, confidently., leaning towards Ashley, and looked into the air and looked at his hand to see a hook.

“Oh my god!” Rob yelled, then screamed, “ASHLEY!”

“Noooo!” Lyndsey yowled.

Everyone stared at each other. “They’re going after,” Rob started.

“Girls,” Lyndsey finished, gulping.

Jamie cuddled Lyndsey and everyone else sat down. Lyndsey was exhausted but didn’t want to sleep.

“Sleep a little. We’ll all sit right here,” Dave replied.

2 HOURS LATER

Lyndsey opened an eye. “Is everyone still here?” She whispered.

“We’re here and safe,” Jamie said.

“For now,” Jacob replied.

“Dave? You’re so quiet,” Lyndsey called out.

“Dave?” Rob asked.

“Dave!” Jamie yelled.

“Dave!” Lyndsey screaming, freaking out.

“Man. We’ve got to get out of here,” Jacob replied.

They slowly walked back downstairs, into the living room. “Now let’s head for the door!” Rob panicked.

Lyndsey screamed. “Lyndsey! No!” Jamie yelled, turning to see her standing still.

He reached out for her hand and she was as stiff as a board. Jamie turned to see Nikki lying on the table, bleeding from the mouth. On the floor, Ashley lay bruised. Dave and Amanda were sitting on chairs bleeding from the neck.

Jamie turned Lyndsey’s head. She put her head against him. “Don’t cry,” Rob said, walking up behind her.

Lyndsey looked up and walked over to the 4 bodies and looked up and started laughing. “What?” Jacob asked.

Lyndsey shined her flashlight towards the table to see the 4 bodies walking towards them. Jamie, Rob and Jacob screamed louder than anyone ever could. Dave, Ashley, Amanda and Nikki burst into laughter. “GOTCHA!” They yelled.

Nikki licked her lips and giggled, “Yum, corn syrup!”

Rob punched Ashley’s arm, “You went too far!”

“Look, I’m sorry but we had to prove to your little theories aren’t true,” She explained.

“Let’s just go home guys,” Lyndsey suggested, wrapping her arms around Jamie’s waist, giving him a kiss.

“I should’ve listened to you,” Jamie admitted, flashing her a smile.

“Let’s go home,” Jacob sighed.

“That was pretty fun though!” Amanda said.

“Great acting Lynds!” Ashley complimented.

“Thanks,” Lyndsey smiled, “But don’t forget the rules to the bet!”

On the way home each guy walked up to a girl they didn’t know and flashed their chests while the girls stood there laughing.
