Bands I Love

Music. The one thing that keeps me going when all else is lost. The one thing that can speak to my mind, about my life.
Music is what I live for.
There are many bands who I feel are worthy for m to be a fan of, but I probably will not be writing about all of them just yet.
The one's I will write about right now are the one's that have shaped my life. Metallica and Garbage.

METALLICA

Metallica has come a long way over the years, going through many changes and band members. I got into Metallica when Garage Inc. came out. Now this makes me sound like I'm not a "True" fan, but let me tell you, whether I was in on Metallica from the begining or from Garbage Inc. I AM a huge fan.
Garbage Inc. was my first album. After that I bought Kill 'em all....and my obsession began.
I began collecting every Cd Metallica made. Posters, Tee Shirts, I even joined the Metallica club. My encounters with Metallica only include getting a question answered by Jason and Lars in So What! magazine and talking to Lars at an online chat where I asked him about what I should do to get into the music buisness. He replied "Stop. Right now. Don't do it, you really don't want it. Instead of doing something with your life your family, you'll be like me, chained to this keyboard."
Thanks Lars.

KIRK HAMMETT

My favorite member is Kirk Hammett. I was highly obsessed with him for a while. I picked up a guitar an tried to be like him....I still can't play the damned guitar.
I will love the Metallica boys forever. Cliff Burton is a Golden God, and Jason will be missed. But the saga goes on. I love how the band has changed style over the years. I always have something to listen to by them, whether I want thrashing, head banging music, or to listen to "One" played with a syphony.

Metallica has shaped my life in so many ways. They are the one's I idolized for a long time....still do. They way they carry themselves, the way thier music speaks of parts of my life. Some of my greatest moments happened with Metallica song. And some of my greatest memories were while I was wearing my now old, torn, Metallica Ride the Lightning shirt.
Metallica is the greatest heavy metal band there is.

GARBAGE

Ah....Garbage. My most loved band besides Metallica. Garbage is a band where every song seems to talk about certain parts of my life. Thier music is not of any genre in my opinion. It's not pop, or rock or anything else. It's simply GARBAGE.
Garbage is

Shirley Manson (vocals)

Butch Vig (drums) also known as Nirvana producer

Duke Erikson (guitars)
Steve Marker (bass)

The group first formed as an impropmtu session band (without ShirleyManson!!!), Garbage formed in Madison, Wisconsin by 1993 as the idea stemming from Vig's former relationship with Nirvana..
Throughout the 80's Vig would sit in on many bands, most notably for Spooner became a notorious session producer for many bands of the Seattle scene beginning in the later 80's.
After Nirvana's excellent hit Nevermind, Vig went on to produce Sonic Youth and Smashing Pumpkins, etc. He would take his knowledge of what is hip and what sells to form the nucleus of Garbage by the summer of 1993.
The amazing, beautiful Goddess Shirley Manson was discovered as the vocalist for Angelfish and was asked to lead the band without much more than a handshake. By the summer of 1995 Garbage would release the self-titled debut album without muchinterest from the masses. The first album was named Garbage. And in my opinion, it is thier very best.
But many critics using the cliché of the bands name to describe the music. Thankfully it was by MTV's standards and their viewing audience that captured the single, "Queer" to the heavy rotation playlist and further onto FM Alternative radio stations.
A year later they would see the greatest success with the singles "Only Happy When It Rains" and "Stupid Girl". The band would soon embark on a continental tour.
The recording sessions from 1997 would produce their folow-up, Version 2.0 and the single "Special". But it was the third release, Beautifulgarbage in 2001 that created their first top review status by the critics.
And now, the fifth release, Shut Your Mouth (Pt.1 & Pt. 2) is being hailed as their greatest victory as far as the bands musical abilities are concerned.

Shirley Manson is my biggest idol. She is everything I want to be.
