My X-Files History

I have been a dedicated and faithful fan of The X-Files since about the year of 1995. I am also a HUGE collector of X-File merchandise. I collect stuff like magazines, pictures, books, cards, scripts, bookmarks, stamps and other stuff. But for some reason, I've never cared that much for clothing. Oh and I do tape every episode of The X-Files, so I guess I'm lucky around summer time. I am a member of The Official X-File Fan Club and I've been a member of that since the summer of 1998. I own a newsletter called The X-Phile eXpedition, which I created and my friend, Dana, who now helps me work on. I'm the Editor-In-Chief and Dana is Executive Editor. You can find out more info on that in The X-Phile eXpedition. Or check out The Official X-Phile eXpedition Website.

To Ship or Not To Ship?

Okay, so since I get tired of some x-phile fans and other people who's just not into X-Files ask me why Mulder and Scully won't just kiss each other and get over it, I have decided to put my two-cents worth of opinions into this detailed eXplaination below. So by doing this I don't have to repeat myself that much more in the future(Cuz no offense to all you Newbies, but it does get tiring....)

The Mulder/Scully Relationship
(a.k.a. MSR)
By: LVxPhile

First of all, I consider myself a "Shipper" (an x-phile who wants Mulder and Scully romatically involved) AND a "NoRomo" (an x-phile who does NOT want them getting romantically involved. Which would be called a "Fencesitter". I'm a shipper cuz I do enjoy their flirts with each other, it's just oh so cute! But I'm a Noromo also cuz I absolutely do NOT want them getting romantically involved, until the VERY, VERY END. These are my thoughts on their relationship. I really think the MSR is VERY unique, interesting and wonderful(all hail Chris Carter!). The relationship actually fascinates me, I think the reason being is that I've never seen anything quiet like it. I really appreciate their relationship right now and the writers at the X-Files better not even think of messing with it!. To me, Mulder and Scully already seems like a married couple, but only it's about 10 times stronger and it's not a physical relationship. It really doesn't bother me that they don't have a physical relationship. I do believe that the MSR has been building over the years and is becoming more compleX, but at least it's unique and you can immediately sense Mulder and Scully's strong, caring, emotional feelings for each other by just the simplest thing, like a touch on a shoulder. It's just really sad that some people don't understand and appreciate that part of their relationship. One thing that I have ALWAYS loved about the MSR is that Mulder and Scully can have a whole conversation by just eXchanging glances, without even saying a word. I think that's REALLY GREAT!!! That just shows you how close and how much they trust each other.

Over the years, I believe that the 'Shippers of this world is ruling the Internet and they get a lot of attention... not that I have anything against them, I really don't. It's just that in my eyes, since they are a huge percent of the fans, and whenever a person finally wakes-up to realize why The X-Files is the GREATEST ALL-TIME show ever, they usually become 'Shippers...They don't automatically realize that there's other groups out there that are on the contrary of 'Shippers... Sooo, as I have thought about this whole topic on this page constantly and vividly over the years, I think I actually think that I've leaned a bit more over to the 'Shippers side of the fence. Not just because of the 'Shippers "power" but also for other reasons. Such as, through the years, CC has played and tricked the fans more times than I can count on the whole MSR topic, just so he has the little fun. But I do enjoy some of those, such as the that infamous car chat that Mulder and Scully had, where they're on a watch and when Scully came to relieve Mulder by bringing him lunch. After they talked, they had an uncomfortable, silent moment, then Scully brought him root beer(evil root beer) instead of Iced Tea, almost the whole episode of Small Potatoes, Arcadia, and all the little Mulderism quirks that he's said all through-out to Scully, like "I think it's remotely possible that someone thinks you're hot", "Scully, marry me", "I just got very  turned on", and of course, "Scully,....I love you". Oh and is it just me or hasn't DD and GA been doing magazine covers that suggested a relationship that more than platonic? Such as that eye-popper cover they did for Rolling Stones, several T.V. Guide covers, and who could forget that one morgue pic!

All, in all, I feel that it's just not the 'Shippers alone, that has influenced many other fans of believing that the MSR should become of something more. But I still have my feet down, firm on the ground, to say nonetheless that the Mulder and Scully should NOT become more romantically involved anytime soon. Besides, you know what they say.... save the best things for last. And I think it's for the best of the show.
