On April 21, 1999 Brazil issued this stamp on the occasion of the site of the first day ceremony. This Fort, part of the historic heritage with more than 400 years presents several different architectonic styles that range from the Mannerism to the Baroque and reaches the contemporary style through its several restorations works. The angle explored by the stamp shows the Forts walls, the sentry boxes, the chapel dedicated to Santo Amaro and the Headquarters. The complex is located among the rocks by the great green station that forms the Goes Hill and by the blue sea. On the foreground there is the Blomefield cannon of the 19th century. |
