Life, the most precious gift from God, the most special wonder, is ours to enjoy and to use , to grow, to increase in spiritual strength and knowledge, but primarily to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the filling of our whole being with God’s grace is the purpose of life.

The Awesome, unimaginable, All Powerful and Almighty Creator of the Universe is not some strange Supreme Being. He is our All Loving Father. He has revealed Himself to us. He has come to us in the Person of His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, Perfect God and Perfect Man in His Divine Person. In Christ we find the purpose of our life, the cause of our existence, the future of the human race. As the sacred Scriptures say:
(John 1:1-5)
"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."
(NKJ)

In the Divine Liturgy of the Orthodox Church, our Lord Jesus Christ comes to each believer in the sacred Gifts themselves. The bread and wine, through the prayers of the priest and the people, become the very Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. He not only loves us, but comes to us in the Liturgy as the basics of our sustenance, as our bread and as our wine. His all holy Flesh and life giving Blood become our source of nourishment. The spiritual food is the antidote for death. This Holy Communion is the source of our eternal life. Jesus Himself promises us in His Holy Gospel that by drinking by eating His Flesh and drinking His Blood we will live together with Him forever. Our body becomes His, our blood filled with His. As it is written in the Bible:
(John 6:54-58)
"54 The Lord said: ‘He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 "For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 "As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me. 58 "This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate, and died, he who eats this bread shall live forever.’" (NAS)
Some desert fathers lived such a holy and angelic life that angels would bring them Holy Communion in the desert. Many ate nothing else but Holy Communion and lived to great advanced age. The Divine Liturgy is God’s greatest gift to the human race. The Liturgy is His real presence among His children in His family the Holy Orthodox Church.
The Almighty Creator is our personal God, our personal Savior. Jesus our Lord, the Creator of all that is, was and will come, is nonetheless our own personal Father and God. Though the vastness of the creation we can barely perceive through our most advanced instruments shows us God incomprehensible, still He comes and dwells in our heart, becomes our Friend, makes us His sons and daughters as if we are each His only child. So my beloved friend every moment and second of each day is of infinite preciousness since it is time that we can spend with God. Each day is a new endless adventure, an exciting event in our life in Christ. Each moment that unfolds is an opportunity to relate, communicate with, and love God. It is possible and necessary that we have a direct line to God at all times. We can make the Name of Jesus our breath. As St. Paul says, "pray without ceasing." We can repeat the holy and all powerful prayer, "Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me a sinner." Each time we breath we can say this prayer. Or we can use the simpler version, "Lord have mercy." When we walk to the bathroom, while brushing our teeth, while driving, or sitting, or exercising, we can say this prayer over and over. In time, if God so Wills, our heart begins to say the prayer "automatically." We sleep and our heart prays, we awake and we are saying the Jesus Prayer as it is called. In time we remain in constant communication with God, we are constantly breathing in His divine grace.

This sacred environment goes with us everywhere, to our work or play, in our family, in our struggle, in our times of illness or defeat. This sacred state is a reservoir of power and might with which we can overcome all adversity, all temptation, all obstacles in this life and the next.
Training as warriors of prayer, we can walk confident in life that there is no problem too big, no mountain too high, no fall too deep that we can not overcome in Christ. Living the life in Christ is not a guarantee that we will live a life without problems and difficulties. What our Lord DOES guarantee is that no matter what we face He will never ever abandon us. As our Lord Jesus says in the Gospel:
(Mark 16:15-20)
15 "The Lord said , ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17 "And these signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly {poison,} it shall not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.’ 19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.] [{And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions. And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation.}"
