Pentagram. Symbolic of the element of Earth, all things Material, and the Northern Quarter. Pentagrams are also symbolic of the unity of the 5 elements Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit.
Athame. Symbolic of the element of Air, all things Spiritual, and the Eastern Quarter. Athames are traditionally black-handled daggers, although athames with wooden handles are also used. Daggers are also used as pointers, cutting tools, and to direct and send magickal energy.
Wand or Staff. Symbolic of the element of Fire, all things Mental, and the Southern Quarter. Wands are also used to direct and send magickal energy.
Chalice or Cauldron. Symbolic of the element of Water, all things Emotional, and the Western Quarter.
Altar. The place on which magickal symbols and tools are placed for use during ritual.
Book of Shadows. Spell book, diary, resource and ritual guide used to construct and record spells, rituals, etc.
Incense. The incense apprpriate to the time of year or to what is desired is burned during ritual to help attune to the goal of the working.
Candles.Candles are used to represent the Goddess and God on the altar. Candles of the appropriate color according to what is desired are often used in magickal workings.
Essential Oils, Brews, or Potions. Essential Oils are used for annointing, Brews and Potions are often ingested. All are used for the same purposes as incense.
Stones or Gems. Stones or Gems appropriate to the desired purpose are used to supplement magickal workings.
Divination Tools. The act of reading the future through the use of tools such as Tarot Cards, Runes, Pendulum, and others is sometimes performed during magickal workings.
