Agent Dana Scully and Agent Fox Mulder meet. It is the beginning of one of the most fascinating, romantic, and strongest partnerships in the history of...well, partnerships. This episode also provides proof that the UST was there right from the beginning.

1x01 Deep Throat

Mulder meets Scully in a bar and leans in close. He asks her if he can buy her a drink. She is at her most uptight (probably because he was late), and replies that it is two in the afternoon. Mulder comes right back with, "It's not stopping the rest of these people," indicating the crowded bar. Already, they have begun the sparring of two wits in conversation that they will become known for.

1x04 Jersey Devil
Written by: Chris Carter
Rating: 5

Scully goes on a date! Mulder asks her to cancel. He is obsessed with some kind of beast-woman and says that she is "beautiful"! Mulder interrupts Scully's date. We find out that Scully has told a friend that Mulder is cute! The implications that she would definitely be interested in him except that "he's obsessed with his work" abound! Scully buys Mulder breakfast and he wolfs down his food--so cute. At the end, Scully gets asked on another date but she chooses to go with Mulder to pursue a case instead. Already, Scully is choosing Mulder above a "normal" life (good choice, Scully--it's overrated, anyway).

1.11 Fire
Written by: Chris Carter
Rating: 5

Written by: Larry Barber & Paul Barber
Rating: 4

GenderBender Ad

Scully is almost seduced by a member of a group known for their powers of attraction...they let out some kind of human phermone that is irresistible to members of the opposite sex. Mulder saves her in time, and he fairly accuses, "I know what I saw, Scully. And I saw you about to do the wild thing with some stranger." Oh, as if he would have been okay with it if it had been Skinner or someone familiar. Sure, Mulder.

We get to hear the now-famous "conversation in the car." It goes like this:

Mulder: No, you'd be in trouble just sitting in this car. And I'd hate to see you carry an official reprimand in your career file because of me.

Scully: Fox--

Mulder: I--I even made my parents call me Mulder. . .Mulder.

Scully: Mulder, I wouldn't put myself on the line for anybody but you.
