Overall

I think the show is actually pretty good. Of course there were differences, but overall it wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. Of course, it was much worse then I'd hoped.

After doing a bit of thimking, I've decieded that my problem isn't the acters. Even the specal effects don't bother me as much as--TAHDAH--the writers! Yes, the writers are the ones that screw up the show the most. I could understand if there was good writing, good acting, and horrible sound effects. But there's NOT!!

The Actors

Shawn Ashmore as Jake
An okay actor, but he needs more experince. I know people are all saying he stinks, but I think he'll improve.

Brooke Nevin as Rachel See above.

Boris Cabrera as Marco Don't get me started on this guy! His acting is noticably better in "On the Run" (# 4) then in "My name is Jake parts 1&2" (#'s 1 & 2) and "Underground" (# 3). But it still really needs working on.

Nadia Nascimento as Cassie See Rachel and Jake.

Christopher Ralph as Tobias The best actor in the group. He's got the "Loner" part down pat. Hopefully the scirpt won't change book 13. We need more Tobias.

The Aliens

Visser Three

How it relates to the Books

Okay. We'll start with the obvious differences. In the order they appeared:
Now in detail.
Ok, so Jake doesn't look like the model. Fine. What do you want, perfection?
Marco kinda annoys me. I picture him as cute, funny, and a guy that has experienced life. They show him as a weird looking boy (teen?) that has a shred of humor and has experienced life. And he DOESN'T HAVE AN ACCENT!!!!! He protested in episode #2, but was quickly silenced by Jake and Cassie. Also, in episode #3 he didn't protest once!
Elfangor. The great hero, the Prince, Ax's brother, Tobias's dad, finder of the time Matrix, and so much more. My complaints:
  1. He has a cool tail!! We only saw it when Visser Three morphed and ate him. And even then, it was thin and looked as if it had been added on as an afterthought. Definitely not "It was like a scorpions tail, thick and powerful-looking. On the end was a wickedly curved, very sharp-looking horn or stinger." (The Invasion)
"The tail was like a scorpion's. It was thick, powerful, and ended in a wicked scythe blade that literally glittered along its razor-sharp edges." (The Message)
  2. He was supposed to look at the kids, decide they are worthy, and tell Jake to go inside and get the blue box. Once Jake goes in the ship, he sees the picture of Elfangor's family and realizes that Andalites have families too.
  3. The head. Even I could tell it was a mask.
  4. The eyes. They practically screamed "Marbles!!!!".
  5. The feet and legs. They looked heavy, not like "four delicate hooves". (from "The Message") Cassie's imitation looked more realistic. And they didn't bend. In the scene where Elfangor walks out of his ship they look like blue sticks with hooves on the end.
  6. The body. They didn't show you the actual body, just the legs and head. "My first reaction was that someone had cloned a person and a deer together."(from "The Invasion")
Okay, the Disk. Tobias stays and "hears" this info. Elfangor doesn't give him a disk. Tobias "meets" his dad. Also, Elfangor would know that the disk could fall into the wrong hands.
The Hork-Bajir looked sooo dumb!! Need I say more?
Tobias, son of Elfangor, morphs first! It has to be that way! It just does.
How does Cassie know all about Morphing? Is she really an Andalite in disgusie?

Now, some less obvious mistakes:

  1. In the show Elfangor didn't know that Visser Three was a Andalite controller.
  2. The Tiger was white.
  3. Jake and Marco didn't tangle with the guards.
1. Elfangor and Visser Three. Of course Elfangor knew Visser Three was an Andalite controller. It was his fault, for goodness sake!
2. The White Tiger. What do you want, perfection? They probably only had access to a white tiger. They won't use a non trained tiger:
Shawn Ashmore killed in filming.
Wild tiger devours him during "Animorphs" scene
Although that might not be such a bad thing.
3. Jake and Marco didn't tangle with the guards. This annoys me. Why? Well, I think that at this point we really get to know Marco.

People/Aliens/Mythcal beasts have agreed/disagreed with me since the 14th of Oct.
