Hi. My name is Marco. Yeah, Marco. As in the cute one. I was sitting on my bed trying to get used to the idea of a new Animorph when my dad walked in.
"Oh. Hi dad."
"Hi. Look, I'm going to be out of town for a week. I was going to leave you with my mom, but then I thought you might not want to."
"Can I stay with Jake?"
"I'll call his parents tonight and see if they say okay." The reason dad was so cool about it was that before he'd recovered from my mom's death I'd spent a lot of time at Jake's.
"Cool."

It turned out okay. I was left at Jake's house on Friday afternoon. That evening Jake and I went for a walk in the woods.
"I keep thinking: What if Jordan turns out like David?"
"Jake, we knew Jordan before she joined. You've known her since she was born!"
"I know. But I can't help thinking it might happen."
<Jordan's been fine. She's still getting used to the fact that we're the "Andalite Bandits" and she hasn't been under Yeerk control long enough to make walking hard.>
"Tobias! You startled me." I wasn't going to admit he scared me.
"Excuse me? Escafil Device? Tobias, you've been hanging out with Ax to long."
<Yeah.> He forced a laugh. <I guess I have been hanging with Ax too much.>
"Tobias, we're going to do the blue-box thing tomorrow."
<Okay. Jordan's kinda nervous about it.>
"That's okay," I said. "As long as she doesn't turn on us like David did."

We met up at Cassie's barn the next day. Jordan looked really nervous. I guess I've gotten good at telling when others are nervous. I might be able recognize it because I am all the time. That scares me.
Rachel gazed down at me. "Let's do it!"
I groaned. Whenever she says that there's trouble.
"Okay. Jordan, put your hand on the box." Jake closed his eyes.
"It hurts!"
"That's okay. It'll go away in a second." Cassie had gotten a mouse out of it's cage. "Now touch this mouse and picture yourself becoming it."
Jordan put finger out and closed her eyes. "Whoa! That felt weird!"
"Jordan, concentrate on becoming the mouse." She must have, because she started shrinking. A tail popped out, and her face grew longer. Her ears were the only things that didn't shrink a whole lot. But they changed color. Finally a mouse ran out from beneath the stacks of clothes that lay on a heap on the floor.
"Send your thoughts to us. It sounds weird, but it works."
<This is kinda cool, you guys...> Suddenly the mouse looked up. <Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!> She scurried over to where her clothes were and hid under her pants.
"The animal brain just kicked in." Cassie explained. "You are a human. Remember Jordan -----?"
The mouse looked up at us. <Oops. Sorry.>
"That's okay. Just remember to expect the animal brain. You can't go running from Visser Three." At the mention of Visser Three Jordan started to shake.
She started demorphing. A human butt appeared where the mouse's should have been. Let me describe this to you. There's this little mouse with a gigantic human butt sticking out it's back end. And the butt has a mouse tail sticking out of it.
"Well, she obviously doesn't have Cassie's talent for morphing."
"Guys. I'm out." I had to admire the fact that she wasn't screaming. But she'd seen the Visser morph.

Dad came and picked me up on Thursday. He said they got the deal finalized early. He also got a raise.
We went out to a movie to celebrate. It was a comedy called 'Yachts', about space invaders that were also parasites. They were also idiots and the whole theater was roaring with laughter by the time it was over. A really funny scene was:
Man1: Run! The Yachts are coming!
I had to tell Jake about this.
