The Power Of The Tongue

When we believe what we speak, it has power over us
Scriptures:-
Mark 11:23,24 => 23 Jesus said "For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says. 24 "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them".

But what does this mean?
> It simply means that whenever you pray for something to happen, have faith and believe that it will happen and as long as it'a God's will for it to happen, it will happen. The Bible tells us that we are to live by FAITH and not by SIGHT. Trust God.
Proverbs 18:21 => 21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat it's fruit."

But what does this mean?
> This means that our tongue has the power to curse or bless others. It has power! Whoever said that old stick and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me obviously was delirious when he said it! Who can truthfully say that he has NEVER been hurt by harsh words before? In truth, wounds by sticks and stones heal and disappear with time but the wounds caused by words stick around for a looooonnnngggg time. For example, many of us remember what someone said to hurt us and when and where as if it only  happened  yesterday.

James 3:2 => 2 For we all stumble in many things. If  anyone does not stumble in speach, he  is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

But what does this mean?
> This verse serves to illustrate the importance of the tongue, the smallest & most deadliest organ in the entire body. If we cannot control what we speak, when we speak, and to whom we speak, what hope do we have of controlling the rest of the body when we can't even control the smallest organ? Strive to control your tongue and you'll become a better person.

James 3:1-12 => 1 My people, let not manyof you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgement. For we all stumble in many things. If  anyone does not stumble in speach, he  is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Indeed we may put bits in horses mouth's that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder whenever the pilot desires. 5 The tongue is a little member and boasts great things! See how great a forest a little fire kindles?
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of  iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and is set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. I t is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Mother and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the image of God. 10 Thus out of the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My people, this should not be like that. 11 Does a spring pour fresh water and bitter water from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree bear olives and an olive tree bear figs? Thus no spring can yield both salt and fresh water.

But what does this mean?
> For the final part of the passage, from verses 9-12, we are told that we are wrong to curse others with our tongue. Think of the times that you've used your tongue to scream/shout/speak/whisper obsceneties at others and a few minutes later using the same tongue to sing praises to God. It is wrong to do so. So what are we supposed to do? Simple. Use your tongue to edify and to speak positive things about others rather than to focus on the negative. Someone once said "if you've got nothing good to say about someone, don't say anything at all". How true those words are....
