A little about me
Welcome to my little corner of the web. There are lots of things here so I hope you have fun and find something of interest. My website will always be under construction (kind of like my house is always in need of being cleaned) but I promise I will actually work on updating and adding things to make it interesting so you'll want to come back often. I've quit two of my three jobs (medical transcriptionist and editorial assistant) and I'm down to only one - secretary/bookkeeper. {Update: I've got another job doing transcription and I'm quitting my secretary/bookkeeper job soon.} I've got loads of things I want to do with my little piece of the Internet. It just takes me a little longer because of my time being so short (after all I do have a family - a great husband, two beautiful daughters, two adorable grandsons and another one on the way, and a spoiled dog who wants a little bit of my time). I wanted to have a place where I could have my favorite sites located at and I wanted to have a place to put my genealogy up on so I could connect with other researchers out there and hopefully find some new relatives. Then when I got my second job (medical transcription), I needed a place for resources that I could find fast. But I tend to go at things at 90 miles an hour and in 10 different directions so bear with me here. As you will see, I have lots of things from genealogy, medical transcription, diet, poetry, quotes, humor, tests, recipes, and so much more. But please feel free to write and let me know if there's something you like, don't like, or want to see, and thanks for stopping by!
Sue's Genealogy
Here is one of my favorite hobbies that kind of takes over your life. Once you start it's like a never ending puzzle. You'll feel like a detective when you're trying to find a name or date, and when you do find a piece to the puzzle - wow, what a rush. Of course, it can make you feel so frustrated at the same time - why did the courthouse that would have had my ancestor's records burn down, where did their children disappear to, why is that page of the census unreadable, why didn't I start doing this years ago when more elderly relatives were still alive? When you start doing genealogy, suddenly you see historical events and time periods so much differently. I guess it's because you connect YOUR relative with that time period and the things that were going on. You start to see things through the eyes of your ancestors and in the process you get to know them. I really got into genealogy after my mother died. It helped me deal with my mother's death by filling my time up and made me feel closer to her while I searched for so many unknown relatives. I only wish she could see how far I've gone back and the wonderful stories I've uncovered. When looking at my surnames please keep in mind that I won't have living people's birth or marriage dates listed (basically anyone born after 1900, I won't put their dates up for their own privacy).
Genealogy Links
I've listed some of the great sites that have been very helpful in my pursuit. Hopefully, you will find them helpful in your research too.
Medical Transcription
I've been a medical transcriptionist and I loved it, but in doing so, it really helps to have places that can give you help. I've made lots of categories for this one because there's so much and I wanted to make it fast and easy (after all, time is money). So you'll find everything you need from the spelling of words, abbreviations, drugs, listings of hospitals & doctors, tests & procedures, organizations, bulletin boards, grammar help, and even job opportunities. So hopefully, this is a place that can help other transcriptionists as much as it has helped me. As stated on MT Daily - all of us are smarter than one of us!
Medical Links
This is a short grouping of places to get answers to questions regarding your health - diseases, treatment, etc.
Quotes
I hope you find something that will inspire you, give you encouragement, hope, a smile, or just make you really give some thought to. This is a collection of my favorite quotes or sayings and whenever possible, I've acknowledged the person who said the quote but an awful lot are anonymous. (And if you're trying to lose weight - there's some really good motivational quotes.)
Poetry
These are some of my favorite poems that I've collected and compiled. Some are very beautiful and I've also thrown in some genealogy ones too.
Visual Fun
Everybody needs to take a break and play a little, and this page has some fun places for the eyes. Kids love it and so do adults.
Tests & more
These are tests that you'll enjoy. Take the IQ tests and see if you're as smart as you think or just have fun with the wide variety of other types of tests.
Diet & Fitness Links
Yes, as you can see I have loads of diet and fitness links to go to so you know I'm "heavy" and trying to lose.
Humor
This page will make you smile, laugh, and just say, "That's the truth!" I have two beautiful daughters and there are two "applications to date my daughter". I've actually handed them out a couple of times (really breaks the ice for guys that look so tense at that "meet her parents for the first time"). I've only had one that thought I was dead serious. So you can really have a good time with this thing.
Miscellaneous
This has a little of everything, from translating different languages to finding directions, to cards to send by email or even a virtual pet dog.
Recipes
This is a list of places to get recipes. I tend to collect cookbooks even though I hardly ever cook (my husband doesn't understand this compulsion). I will be putting some of my best recipes up (yes, occasionally I do cook). Got a killer Christmas cookie recipe that EVERYBODY loves.
Web Page Construction & HTML Links
I've listed some places for you to go to create your own web page. It's so much fun and really easy.
Golf
I had to have a golf page so my husband would drop in. He's the golf nut in the house.
Graphics Links
After looking all over the web for some great graphics, I've found some great ones from these sites.
WebRings
Once I get things a little more together around here, I want to join some webrings.
Search Engines
I'm always trying to find something and this has it all.
Applets
I love applets and I'd like to have a large variety on my website. I have some of the most popular - lake affect, snow, pool, marquee, etc. I've searched around and found some beautiful flowers to go with some great poetry. I hope you enjoy them.
Horoscopes, etc.
Here's a fun place to go when you're in the mood to see what's in store for you or if you have a question.
Surnames - Ged2WWW
I have listed only people who were born BEFORE 1900. So this has cut my list of people down to 6,812 individuals, 2,460 families, and 1,856 surnames. I'm having some problems with it working so please be patient I'll fix those bugs if it kills me. I've still in the process of updating this. I've added loads of people - I now officially have 14,163 individuals.
Grandparents
Here's some poetry about grandparents and some poetry dedicated to my two angel grandchildren who are forever in my heart and are never forgotten. God's taking care of them for us now but one day we'll all be together.
Daughters
This is dedicated to my two fantastic daughters. I'm proud to say they're my kids; they've both grown into beautiful women both inside and out.
Dog Stuff
Had to have some stuff about dogs because I'm a "dog person" and I couldn't live without at least one little "kid" in my house.
Cocoa & Buddy
This page has pictures of my two little "kids". Unfortunately Buddy died a couple of months ago but he was an unforgetable dog - very loving and smart.
Diabetes Links
This page is for my husband. Fortunately by eating right and the right amount of exercise he's off all medication and doing fantastic.
