SHE WAITS

She sits and waits so restless
For the one she sees in her dreams
The waiting is so endless
But the wait, is not over, it seems.

She knows the gentleness to be brought
She succumbs to it every night
If only she could feel the same
With the reality of daylight.

So many times she has been deluded
Into thinking at last it had come
She gave her trust to willingly
Only to find it was to the wrong one.

With her pride and heart battered
She begins her wait once more
Her hopes were left shattered
Disappointment again added to the score.

Sometimes her doubts overwhelm her
Is this prize for just a few to possess?
She's been waiting now her whole lifetime
Each passing day making her more restless.

Should she accept this fate and be resigned
Admit she's expecting too much
Is she being too indulgent?
Her heart's vision, is it worthy of trust? link

She hopes it will come like bright lightening
To take her swiftly away
To a life wrapped in love and understanding
And the joy of living each day.
