I wait in anticipation
to start the new day ahead,
no adversity today
only peaceful thoughts instead.
I'll walk into the sunshine
and watch the birds play in flight,
while others fluff their wings,
in soft dirt, with delight.
I'll stop and pick some flowers
and smell their fragrant scent
and look at all their colours
as if from a rainbow they were sent.
And I'll watch the blue sky as
small clouds move across,
leaving white shadows on the water
that moves and ripple like white froth.
And I'll watch the trees new leaves
as they spread themselves in life.
Searching up towards the warmth,
stretching and creeping in the light.
There is a seat under the kowhai tree
were I'll sit and close my eyes
let my mind drift to thoughts of you
and thank god he linked our lives.
