CoolBird's Yellow Tips
Back To Yellow Main Page
Here i have tips posted up. Like what to teach Pokémon and what not to, what PokŽmon to train, what the gym leaders do, what Gary does, etc. Mainly I put this place up to help people who are having trouble in the game.
Pokémon Yellow Tips
PIKACHU
- You Start out with Pikachu. Now, let me explain something about her. Pikachu will not like you as soon as you get her. She tends to wiggle her ear at you when you talk to her, but she will still listen to you in battles.
- Pikachu is an important part of this game. You will need her if you have hopes of getting a bulbasaur, charmander, and a squirtle.
- The three people who give you Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, expect pikachu to be happy and like you. You can always check on Pikachu's mood during the game by turning around to face her, the talk to her by pressing A.
- Pikachu will also kick Misty's butt when in battle.
THE GYM LEADERS
- Now, the problem here is that I'm not using a player's guide to beat the game, and the tips I'm using are my own. Right now I've only beaten 3 Gym Leaders, and I'll post up info about those 3 Gym Leaders only. But as I Beat more Gym Leaders, I'll post more info.
BROCK
Brock has 2 PokŽmon, Geodude and Onix. Well, in the Red/Blue versions, Geodude was level 12 and Onix was level 14. But that's because you might've chosen squirtle, which would have totally pulverized those to monsters. But now, you only have Pikachu and maybe some others you caught on the way, but none of them were grass or water-types. Nintendo thought of that, and they made geodude at level 10 and Onix at level 12 in the Yellow Version.
POKEMON TO USE AGAINST BROCK
- Pidgey
- Rattata
- Nidoran F
- Nidoran M
- Butterfree
MISTY
Well, Misty is pretty much the same thing as in Red and blue, so I won't go into small details. She has Staryu at Level 19 and Starmie at level 21. Kick her butt with Pikachu, Pidgeotto, Raticate, or a Butterfree.
LT. SURGE
LT. Surge is probably one of the easiest Gym Leaders to defeat in yellow. He only has 1 PokŽmon: a raichu at level 28. You can easily beat the raichu with a Raticate that know dig and is around level 22-23.
PokŽmon To Raise
In Yellow, you only start out with pikachu, and Pikachu can't win all your battles, so you'll have to catch and train some other PokŽmon.
- Pidgey-Pidgey is a must for every trainer in yellow. Pidgey may not be the strongest thing in the universe, but it will probably be one of the PokŽmon that will beat Brock. be sure to catch a Pidgey and train it as soon as possible.
- Rattata-Rattata may seem weak at first, but as soon as it starts getting in the teen levels, it will start to learn formidable attacks. At level 14, rattata will learn Hyper Fang, a very powerful and useful move. When it evolves into raticate, it will be able to learn dig, which will totally destroy any Posion or Electric type PokŽmon instantly.
- Nidoran-Well, it doesn't really matter what gender of Nidoran you raise, but I personally prefer Nidoran female because it has a better defense than the male, and its attacks are good, too. Nidorans will come in handy later on in the game, but remember NOT to use the moon stone on them until you think they've learned all their good attacks.
- Spearow-I haven't atually raised a Spearow, but I beleive it will also be good against Brock and the others, but i usually prefer Pidgey over spearow for attack and evolution Reasons.
- Caterpie-Caterpie is very weak at first, but if you give it some time to evolve into Butterfree, it will be very powerful. A Bug/Psy/Flying PokŽmon will become formidable later on.
- Charmander-Charmander is a good choice to raise out of the 3 "starting" PokŽmon because of its power. Squirtle and bulbasaur also are powerful, but a fire-type will always come in handy later on.
- Drowzee-A must for any Trainer who likes power. You can catch a Drowzee east of Vermillion city. Drowzee is a Psychic PokŽmon that is very handy because it can put opponents to sleep with hypnosis. And its Confusion attack will confuse any Pokémon into hurting itself badly. Drowzee would be a nice addition to your Pokémon team.
I could take the time to talk about every Pokémon available earlier in the game, but that would be too much. What I have up there is just a guide, not a step-by-step strategy for the first part of the game to help you and start you off.
