Coolbird, here, reporting to you some nifty tips on the Gold and Silver versions of Pokémon! Some of the stuff here is slightly outdated, such as the Pokémon names, since of course we all know the names of all 100 new Pokémon (which won't be so new anymore later this year), but I've decided to keep it up here, anyway.
Alright, first thing you probably want to know is the official new Pokémon names! Well, I don't know all of them, but here are the ones I collected and total info about them!
I hope that's enough, since i didn't even cover a lot. Anyway, those are some official names and stuff, like type and evolution level.
There are some new Pokéballs in G/S, too. Here they are as follows:
To get these balls, you must find items called apricorns and give it to a certain guy in Azalea to get these balls.
Here are some pics i scanned for all of you. DO NOT STEAL!!!
An Umbreon i drew!
Okay, I know you've seen this, it's my main image.
In the worlds of Johto and Kanto, there were and are some very rare pokemon. There are three especially elusive monsters roaming about Johto. Here i will explain how you can have an easier time catching these Pokemon.
The three fantastically bizarre crearures, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, are not found in any one particular place in Johto, which makes them a trifle to catch. After you scare off the beasts from the burned out tower, they will begin roaming the fields and rivers of johto.
You will randomly run into them while walking about the grass, and when you do (you should be very excited) you can track them on your PokeDex. It is VERY tough to catch them unless you have master balls at hand, since they run at the first chance they get. At this time I have already caught all three dogs, and it took about a month.
Anyway, here i have some very useful guidelines and tips on how to track down the Trinity of Terror. Remember that you should follow these ONLY if you've already run into one of the rare creatures.
Anyway, very good news for me, and possibly for you. I am very proud of myself, since I have caught all three dogs! And, for all of you who are having trouble even running across these creatures, click below to see colorized versions of their PokéDex entries! (remember, since I printed them out from my game, this is from the silver version. The pictures and data may differ in Gold version, but I don't know.)
This is all I have for now. I'll do more stuff later, but the items i have now should entertain you for a bit and help you, i hope.

New PokéBalls
Fast ball-Helps catch those escaping Pokemon
Lure Ball-Helps when catching after fishing.
Level Ball-The lower the opponent's level to your pokemon's, the easier it is to catch.
Heavy Ball-For those heavy-duty Pokemon.
Love Ball-If the gender of the opposing pokemon is opposite to that of yours, you chances of catching it increase.
Friend ball-Catch a Pokémon with this so it will become attatched to you.
Moon Ball-Easier to catch Pokemon that evolve with the moon stone (clefairy, jigglypuff).

Rare Pokemon
The Ledgendary Beasts
1.Get a pokemon that knows Fly, and one that can hypnotize or paralyze. You also NEED a bike.
2.Buy up a bunch of repels (10 is okay for starters).
3.Find out where the Pokemon is at the time being. If it's close, bike over to its hiding place, but becareful because you may be too late by the time you're there. Check your 'dex frequently.
4.If the Pokemon is far away, try to guess what route it will go to next and fly there. I've intercepted Suicune like this many times before i finally caught it.
5.If the Pokemon is near your area, crank up your bike (it's a good idea to assign it to Select) and break open a repel. Then turn on the radio (try the pokemon march to attract them) and go after it!
6.Be sure to check your position on the map relative to the pokemons' using the PokeGear. this makes tracking it easier.
7.Make sure you have a VERY FAST pokemon first in your line, as the creatures run away quickly, and they don't heal the damage they receive, so you can catch one over a number of sightings. Also try to have a pokemon that can put the dogs to sleep.
8.Then you hope for the best and belive in yourself. Remember that doing this takes a lot of time and patience.
