cMail - New Developments and FAQ's

Self registration - cMail gives you a code - say 1234. Call these ABCD. To register your cMail, add the four digits together such that A+B+C+D = XY. The result code you must give is 1BYDX.

072,082 and 083 numbers are accepted by cMail. 073 and 084 numbers cannot be cMailed.

IMPORTANT Disclaimer: cMail connects to the cellular networks via their public SMS gateways. We cannot be held responsible for the reliability, speed or continuity of these gateways. For connection problems contact the network customer care service for VodaMemo and MTN Cellnote.

NEW: Version 6. Includes date driven messaging. Create anniversaries and record them against subscribers. Use cMail's new feature to automatically generate messages for the anniversaries on the correct date. Generate happy birthday messages, remind people of contract expiry or appointments, ANY date related messaging you may need.

THE CMAIL SUPPORT NUMBER HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED DUE TO THE LOW NUMBER OF CALLS.

HINT: Finding it slow going adding people to a group ? Version 5 solves that by allowing multi select on the left side people list. Hold control and click to select individually, hold shift and click to select from one name to another. (for you Nina)

HINT: Modem not closing down properly - try adding ATH into the modem closedown string (version 5 on).

HINT: Having trouble compacting the databases - close down cMail and try again without opening the queue or the log. Thanks to Ursula at Smart Call for helping us nail this one !

HINT: Can't delete messages from the queue - make sure your short date is a 4 digit year and that you use separator characters.

HINT: Can't log in - read your manual (RTFM), ask your administrator or try userid/password of Admin/Admin.

HINT: Having installation problems ?: For SETUP1.EX_ problems simply delete setup1.exe from your Windows folder. For VER.DL_ delete ver.dl_ from either Windows or Windows/System folders.

HINT: help file doesnt open on Windows 2000. We know - try creating a shortcut to the help file (cMail.Hlp) on your desktop or open it by double clicking it from Windows Explorer.

HINT: No carrier detected - try calling the network directly (0822442244 or 0839009000) and see if you get a modem tone. If you don't - call the network help numbers. If you do , try testing it with Hyperterminal and see what comes down the line.

Messages not being delivered even though cMail says they weresent to the network ? Contact Vodacom or MTN. Once cMail has delivered the message to the network we have fulfilled our part of the bargain. The networks are solely reponsible for delivering the message to the telephone.
