Proprietary Tags

  1. Login to your account on the WebCity server (webcity.arc.losrios.cc.ca.us). If you've forgotten the procedure, follow the directions on the "Procedure for Logging Into Your Account" handout.

  2. Create an HTML file using the text processor pico:

         pico blink.html

  3. Create the surrounding template for the web page by entering the following tags:

    ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­

    <HTML>

    <HEAD>
         <TITLE>Blink Day; Marquee Day</TITLE>
    </HEAD>

    <BODY>

    </BODY>

    </HTML>

    ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­

  4. Between the <BODY> and </BODY> tags above, I want you to add as many words and phrases surrounded by blink and marquee tags as you possibly can. Go crazy! Get it out of your system and never ever use these tags again!

  5. To save your file PERIODICALLY in pico, use the Control key and the O key pressed simultaneously. Follow the directions. To save your file and EXIT the pico software, press the Control key and the X key simultaneously. Follow the directions.

  6. To view your web page, open a browser and type in the following URL:

         http://webcity.arc.losrios.cc.ca.us/~login/blink.html
