Pepper is a black Labrador retriever.
Midnight is an American shorthair cat who is solid black except for a small white patch on his throat.
Chester is an American shorthair cat who is white with big patches of orange stripes.
Shadow is an American shorthair cat who is dark smoky gray with white feet.
1997
We adopted Midnight from his litter when he was only 6 weeks old. He was the smallest kitty in his litter, but he soon grew strong with an attitude to match. He really missed his littermates at first. Then he realized that he had all of our attention for himself. He really liked that. Then...
1998
We adopted Pepper as a runaway stray. He had been mistreated, and he was very scared. Now he has a big backyard, a little brother, and a loving home. He loves to shake hands and to have his belly rubbed. One of his favorite treats is the shedding blade! From his reaction, it must feel like a massage does to you or me. Pepper doesn't like to play fetch, but he loves to play chase. Unfortunately, Midnight doesn't like that game at all. ;)
2001
We adopted Chester and Shadow from the Humane Society of South Mississippi. We were shopping for treats for Midnight and Pepper at the PetSmart store in Gulfport while on vacation. We discovered that the store donated space to the HSSM. We saw about seven cats that day (They didn't have any dogs.), but we fell in love with Chester and Shadow in just a short time. We were still on vacation, so we decided to think about it and possibly return on our drive home. That's exactly what we did, and we brought them home on April 28. Chester is the youngest of our brood, probably between two and three years old. He loves to play, but he is very sweet and gentle. Shadow is the oldest, and he shows it in his laid-back attitude. He only gets excited if a neighborhood cat is in our back yard.
