MY FRIEND, EYRE'

This is a story about a friend that I would like to share. Shortly after I created my websight, I received an e-mail from someone who's screename was BrknH3art. She wrote to tell me how much she enjoyed my poetry. I replied to her e-mail and through our letters and poetry we became friends. She left this entry in my guestbook.

Comments: Anna Marie, I would like to tell you that this page is very touching to me. As i told you before, your poetry touches me like nothing ever has. Your page is great and the poetry is so beautiful. Keep working on it, you're doing a GREAT job =) Can't wait to see more poetry ... lights up my life. Midnite *hugs* ::whispers:: come take a look at my page: It's in memory of a friend that passed away April 24th. Thanks =o)

I did not know how old she was and I never asked. We just kept in touch. Our frienship started in June. On July 4, 1998 I sent a Happy Independence Day wish to my internet friends. I sent one to Eyre', wishing her happiness and blessings on this day and all the ones to come. In the late afternoon I received her cheerful reply which brought a smile to my face. Later that night I received another e-mail which I assumed was from her, but when I opened it and read the words, the tears filled my eyes. The e-mail was from her sister informing me that Eyre' had died from injuries she received in a car crash, involving a drunk driver. I was notified because I was on her buddy list. I kept in touch with the sister until after the funeral. I found out that she had just turned 18 in June 1998. Her web pages and screenames were deleted and I have not heard anymore from the family. I did find this entry in my guestbook.

Comments: Anna Marie, Hello. I just wanted to thank you for your support. It was a tragic thing to happen in our lives and Eyre will be missed. You've stood by us and wrote sincere letters and we really appreciate this. I know she is looking down upon us and watching us from above. Keep her in your heart and her memory shall live on. Your poetry is very touching and brought tears to my eyes. Keep up with your talent and May God Bless you always. Thank You Again Anna Marie. Rae (Eyre's sister)

I got the dove from Eyre's homepage, and I originally had it along with a graphic and some words in her memory on my family poetry page, as I told her sister I would make something in her memory, since there was nothing else I could do. I have now made this page in her memory. It was a very sad time, and I shall never forget her, even though we were only Internet Friends.

Having said all that, I shall leave you with these words, that have been said before, but can never be said enough:

If you drink, please don't drink and drive.

Tell that someone that you love, just what you're thinking of, if tomorrow never comes.
