Daren Walker

Head Section Leader

Daren Walker

Daren is a senior business major from Jackson, MS. He attended Jim Hill High School. While in high school he was section leader. He also was in All-City, All-District, and All-State bands. In 1998, he graduated there at the top 5% of his class. After graduation, he entered Jackson State University on a Full-academic and band scholarship. Daren is an outstanding musician. He played Solo First trombone since he was a freshman.  In 2000, he was named to the position of assistant section leader. He then was promoted to head section leader in 2001.  At Jackson State, he has participated in numerous performing ensembles such as: Symphonic Band, Jazz Band I, Jazz Band II, Brasswind Ensemble, Trombone Choir, Orchestra, and Marching Band. Daren is a member of several professional organization throughout campus.

Carlton Williams

Carlton Williams

Carlton is a senior music education major from, Jackson, MS. Carlton attended Lanier High School.  While in high school he was head section leader since his freshmen year. He also was in All-City and All-District bands.  In 1998, he graduated there at the top 10% of his class. After graduation, he entered Jackson State University on an academic and band scholarship.  During his first year he played 3rd Trombone. (Thunder Thirds) In 2000, he was named as a section leader. At Jackson State he has participated in numerous performing ensembles such as: Symphonic Band, Jazz Band I, Jazz Band II, Concert Band, Brasswind Ensemble, Trombone Choir, and Marching Band.  He is a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity,
Inc., He is also a Freemason.
 

Jimmy May

Jimmy May

Jimmy is a senior biology major from, Ridgeland, MS.  Jimmy attended Madison Central High School.  While in high school he was head section leader his senior year. He also was in All-District and The Mississippi Lion's All-State bands.  He graduated there in 1998.  After graduation, he entered Jackson State University on a band scholarship.  During his first year he played Solo 1st Trombone.  This is Jimmy's first year as a section leader.   At Jackson State, he has participated in numerous performing ensembles such as: Symphonic Band, Jazz Band I, Jazz Band II, Concert Band, Brasswind Ensemble, Trombone Choir, and Marching Band.  He is a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Ryan is a Sophmore Engineering from, Jackson, MS. Ryan attended Callaway High School.  While in high school he was head section leader his Senior year. He also was in All-City and All-District bands.  In 1998, he graduated there at the top 5% of his class. After graduation, he entered Jackson State University on a Full academic and band scholarship.  During his first year he played 1st Trombone. This is Ryans first year as section leader.  At Jackson State he has participated in numerous performing ensembles such as: Symphonic Band, Jazz Band I, Jazz Band II, Trombone Choir, and Marching Band.
