Yeah, well, there's really no excuse for this one....
Dan stirred from her slumber and lay with her eyes closed for a while. A slight ache throbbed at the back of her scull. With a sigh she reached out for her glasses, which were lying on the floor beside her bed. Without looking, she slid them onto her nose and opened her eyes.
"Good morning DanielleLangdon," a deep, male - *incredibly* male - voice said.
Dan jumped about a mile into the air and sat bolt upright. Then she realised she had no clothes on. She fumbled for the topsheet, she blushed hotly and avoided the stranger's gaze. How the hell had he managed to get into her room? Then, after having a surreptitious look around, she realised that it wasn't her room after all - the giant poster of Ayre's Rock was missing from the left hand wall. Managing the impossible, her face flushed an even deeper shade of red.
"Um, er... I, uh," she stammered, clutching the snow-white linen to her chest. The man, whom she'd recognised as the one she harangued the day before, waited patiently for her to produce at least one intelligible word. Swallowing, she finally met his eyes.
"Um... Goodbye!" she chirped and, pulling the topsheet off the bed, she dashed to the door. She flung it open and ran into the corridor... Only to collide with someone, nearly knocking them over in the process.
"Whoah!" they - no,he cried, grabbing her before they both lost their balance. "What the hell?" Looking her up and down, he took in her attire - or lack of it.
"I was just, um...," Dan's voice drifted off as her wits deserted her and she took in the fact she could offer no excuse for her presence in the male section of quarters, clad in nothing but a bedsheet.
"I believe these are yours," the room's owner said impassively, standing in the doorway and proffering her clothes.
"Been giving our latest recruit a warm welcome Teal'c?" the other man asked, raising an eyebrow in silent enquiry.
Dan cursed silently as she finally recognised who it was she'd bumped into - it was Colonel O'Neill. Of all the people that she could've smacked into, it just to be General Hammond's right hand! Just her luck...
"Um, if you'll both excuse me," she piped up, "I'll just go and kill myself."
Snatching her stuff from Teal'c (whilst simultaneously ensuring that the sheet wasn't going anywhere), she turned on her heel and quickly walked the other way. As soon as she was sure that the men could no longer see her, she broke into a jog.
That was definitely the last time she touched a bottle of Jack Daniel's with anything less than a ten foot barge pole...
