Special Edition Pikachu version of Pokémon is a fun kind of game to play. It’s a game like Red/Blue versions but it follows most of the tv show. You start with Pikachu, but after the battle is over with Gary and his new Eevee, it refuses to stay in it’s Pokéball! Pikachu follows you around, and you can check out it’s mood but turning around and talking to it. You must keep Pikachu happy. Two ways of making it happy is by battling and winning, and by giving it items, for example, if Pikachu wasn't hurt by HP, use a Potion and even though it said nothing happened, Pikachu likes it! Pikachu will call out it’s name, not like the Gameboy calls but it says "Pika!" and it cries when it faints, sort of like "Chaa!". The graphics are different than Red/Blue versions, the color is set all ready so if you have a Gameboy Color, Blastoise will always be blue, and Charmander will always be red, and the color changes on your screen when you enter a new location.

You actually see Team Rocket! That means Jessie and James! They do the motto and battle you once in a while. Their Pokémon like Ekans and Arbok will evolve later on in the game but Meowth stays as Meowth.

One thing that will upset most Pokémon cheaters is that you CANNOT cheat in this game!

Gary's Eevee will change depending on what you do. It will evolved into Vaporeon if you loose to Gary at the begining, Flareon if you lost to him near the Pokémon League entrance at the begining, and Jolteon if you won at the begining but didn't fight him near the Pokémon League entrance.

Don't evolve your Pikachu! If you try Pikachu won't let you. Don't even think about trading it to Red/Blue and evolving it there cause your Raichu won't follow or call it's name out! It's suppose to follow the television series!

Yay.. finally a version that you can catch Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle! Only once though, and you get Bulbasaur from Cerulean City, in the house beside the Pokémon Center if your Pikachu is happy enough.. (like the girl in the hidden village) and Charmander right after that if you talk to Damien at the top of the Nugget Bridge.. and even Squirtle when you beat Lt. Surge in Vermillion and the officer there will give you hers, and they're all at Lv. 10.

Import your Pikachu to Stadium 2. You'll find that it's carrying a LIGHT BALL and it doubles some of Pikachu's stats.

Well, there's some fun things you can do with Pikachu, stuff like going fishing and talking to Pikachu after, jumping over a cliff and leaving Pikachu behind a bit. It wil start dancing! What else? Teach your Pikachu SURF from Stadium 1 and talk to the guy with the Pikachu at the end of Fushia City and you're bound to like it... Go SURFing out in the water and see your Pikachu on a surf board!
