These two versions were the most awaited ones. A hundred Pokémon was added, and another side was created -- Johto. This game is 3 years in the future from the Red/Blue/Yellow versions, so you’d expect a lot of changes. You start off as a different character named Hiro and you start in a town called New Bark Town. You journey like Ash in the past versions and want to become a Pokémon master. Unfortunately, someone else wants to become a master too. This person is Kamon. This young trainer steals a Pokémon from the Elm lab the first day you start your journey. The people like the Sages see inside that you are a well trainer. You’ll meet familiar faces, and one of them is Red (Ash). Oh yeah, Ash is in here all right, taking the name of Red and Gary taking the name of Blue. Poor Blaine doesn’t have a gym anymore, because of the volcano that has recently erupted. That’s one of the kinds of change you’ll see. Gold and silver are just like Red/Blue/Yellow -- you have to trade to catch ‘em all! This is one of the best things. You can set a time in Gold/Silver! The game cartridge holds data 24 hours a day and when you play, there's morning, day, and night and can even set days like Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday! You dont' even have to set the time everytime you play! If you messed up on the time, you can always reset it by looking further down this page. You get an awesome PokéGear! Talk to trainers when you exchange phone numbers and talk to your Mom when you want her to save money for you and even talk to Prof. Elm! You get a build in Radio after you win it in Goldenrod City. You can tune into stations like the Lucky Number Show where you just might win a Master Ball! If you go to the Ruins of Alph, you can listen to some weird Unown music... You also get a bigger more organized backpack! You can carry all of your TMs and they tell you what they contain in them. Store all of your Pokéballs in your front pocket and your key items like a Bicycle in them. You can go to SEL when you press A of the key items so where you press Select, you'll automatically use it! You're other items are held in the other pockets and those items are like Antidote, Bitter Berry, and so on. There are berry trees growing everywhere. They regrow after a day and contains berries or apricorns. Berries are all different and heals different statuses. Make your Pokémon hold items for you and make them hold healing items if the item says (Hold) so whenever your Pokemon take damage and for example, poisoned, if it held a PSNCUREBERRY, it will heal automatically! Wild Pokemon may hold an item, for example, Tangela always holds a BITTERBERRY! Ho-oh always hold SACRED ASH and Clefairy may hold a MOONSTONE! There are colored versions of Pokémon and they are super hard to find. There's one that you can automatically meet and that's the Red Gyarados at the top of Mahogany Town. There's also a new feature, to be able to breed any Pokémon, except the legendary ones! I'll get the Breeding Guide soon... You also get a cool backpack that can store way way more than in Red/Blue/Yellow. The TMs are new and yet, there's 2 more HMs -- Whirlpool and Waterfall! Eevee gets 2 more evolutions, Espeon, and Umbreon, by taming it the right time of the day, and Slowpoke can turn into Slowking while holding King's Rock and was traded, Poliwhirl can turn into Politoad by the same procedure, Gloom can evolve into Bellossom using the Sun Stone by winning the Bug Catching Contest on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, Scyther can evolve into a cool Steel/Bug type named Scizor by trading it with a Metal Coat, and so can Onix, by the same procedure! There's more! Now there's a Hitmontop, and Chansey can evolve into Blissey by keeping Chansey happy. Ways are to keep raising levels, getting haircuts at the Pokémon Salon everyday except for Monday, giving it items to hold, keeping it in your party, heal it when it's hurt or if it fainted, and even having faith to your Pokémon when it looks like your outmatched! There's baby Pokémon, like pre-evolved ones that you've never even known that a Pokémon could have! Some are like Pichu, a baby Pikachu, a Magby, a baby Magmar, a Smoochum, a baby Jynx, a Tyrogue, a baby Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, and Hitmontop, an Elekid, a baby Electabuzz, a Cleffa, a baby Clefairy, an Igglybuff, a baby Jigglypuff.. oh there's just too many! There's a new feature, Mystery Gift, and what it is, is that you use the connecter on top of your Gameboy Color, (it's black) and you put it about 1 and a half inch away from another Gameboy Color's. You must go to Goldenrod City and visit the little girl on the second last buiding. She introduces you to Mystery Gift. Then an option appears at the begining of the game. You can do Mystery Gift only once! You get a prize each time. This could be items, dolls, game systems, beds, posters, and more! I'll also discuss this in a page later on.. but there's also a way to Mystery Gift anytime you want! You can reset the time, but the only way is to use a password and the password changes each time you change your money and your name and your ID number. If you don't know what this is, go to your title screen and press B + Down + Select. It will ask for your password. Go to the Password Finder now! What else is new in Gold and Silver? I'll find out more later!
