Rated: PG-13
Running Time:2 hours, 6 minutes
Tabitha's Rating:*****/5
Synopsis:A musical love story between a singing, dancing, acting prostitute and a writer set in early 20th century Paris.

Two words: awesome, incredible, wonderfully fantastic! Ok, so that was more than two words. If you like musicals, then you'll love this. If you aren't partial to musicals, but you like modern music, then you'll like this movie. The music in Moulin Rouge combines several types, including unique twists on songs by artists such as Kiss and Madonna. Even if you would not buy the soundtrack, you'll enjoy the music on the screen. The musical numbers are complimented and enhanced greatly by the dazzling sights which keep your eyes smiling.

Besides being beautiful, Nicole Kidman gives a beautiful performance. Ewen Mcgregor isn't so bad either. Not only is the script moving, pulling on your heart strings, but it is also humorous. Adding to the humor are the comic, often drunken men who befriend Ewen's character.

It seems every movie these days has to have a love story. Every song is a love song. While this movie is about love, it sets itself far above the rest by reminding the audience why so many things are about love: love is wonderful and powerful. It makes the simple phrase which is repeated several times throughout the film, "the greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return" ring with truth and inspiration while other films who might have attempted that phrase would probably make it sound cheesy.

Bottomline: You'll laugh, you'll cry, see it again and again and when it comes out on DVD, buy it!
