Summary-As would be expected with any novelization of a movie, the plot of this novel is very similar to that of the movie. However, a few minor changes and additions were made. Firstly, in the novels, Felix Leiter was thrown to a shark way back in Fleming's second book, Live and Let Die. Every time he has appeared since then, which he did a considerable amount, he has had an artificial arm and leg. In the movie, this was the time when Felix was thrown to the sharks. However, Gardner wanted to maintain the continuity of the book. In the novel, this is the second time that Felix is thrown to a shark. Not much physical damage is done, since the shark mainly chews on his fake arm and leg. However, mental trauma is worse. Della, Felix's new bride is killed, and I'm sure he has nightmares about sharks. Other than this change, the book is extremely similar to the movie. A few passages are added to fill in a few small holes from the movie. My Grade- A+ Licence to Kill is probably my second favorite Bond movie, after Goldeneye. Perhaps that is why this is my favorite Gardner novel up to this point. (I still have several to read at the time I write this.) This novel is just as thrilling as the movie, and I enjoyed very much being able to experience the plot through a different medium. I am really looking forward to Gardner's novelization of Goldeneye as well. Best Moment- As much as I like the return of Felix Leiter in the book, his presence is overshadowed by Q, who has the largest part in this novel than any of the ones he's been in before. It's great to see Q in action.
