A View to a Kill was produced by Eon Productions in 1985. Roger Moore returns for one last time to the role of James Bond. This movie had a few problems getting made on time. First, the 007 soundstage burned down, and had to be rebuilt. (It was rebuilt in record time.) Secondly, it was difficult to get permission from the French government to do some of the stunt scenes that needed to be done there. (Such as jumping off the Eiffel Tower.)
In this movie, Max Zorin plans to destroy Silicon Valley, and thus America's monopoly on the computer chip market. (Silicon Valley produces 80% of the world's computer chips.) Zorin wants to have the monopoly on the computer chips. Max Zorin was part of an experiment to produce super smart babies. Therefore, he is quite a match for James Bond's wit and intelligence. However, a side effect of the procedure is that he is insane. Along with his sidekick May Day, Bond has his hands full, and only manages to stop Zorin after a death defying fight on the Golden Gate Bridge.
A NOTE ON THE THEME SONG: John Barry scored the movies action sequences, with a song similar in scope to that in OHMSS. It is quite effective. The title song was performed by the hit band Duran Duran. It hit #1 on US charts, and #2 on UK charts, making this the biggest hit of any of the Bond themes.
MY GRADE: C  This movie is a little better than Octopussy, but is the second worst Moore movie. The person who actually saves this picture is Christopher Walken, who played a very sinister Bond villain.
BEST MOMENT: Despite the final scene being a little predictable, it was still one of the more exciting and interesting fight scenes in James Bond.
ALSO NOTICEABLE: *The jump off the Eiffel Tower makes a nice addition to the action scenes on historic landmarks.
*The opening scene in which Bond snowboards is a good way of making the standard ski scene new.
DID YOU KNOW: *Maud Adams is supposedly an extra in the background in the fish market scene.
*Moore was offered another Bond movie, but declined it, thinking he was too old.
*The back-up Eiffel Tower wasn't needed, since the first take went perfectly. However, the back-up wanted to jump and illegally did so later that night, and was fired.
*The Order of Lenin was given to Bond in this movie. The first time for a non-Soviet.

Here are a few sound clips from the movie:
