UNEXPECTED STRANGER
Chapter Two
Jack shifted in his seat. He didn't know why
he had chose Drama 1 for his senior year. He then remembered the arts credit he
needed to graduate, and sighed.
"And this year, I have chosen Rose
DeWitt-Bukater and Jack Dawson to be our main characters, Sandy Olsson and
Danny Zuko," Mrs. Hager, the drama teacher, said.
Jack then remembered, he had been too busy to
even hear her say anything else. He knew the play they were doing. Grease had
always been a big thing to do at the school. Each year that was the big play.
Rose stood up. Jack followed her lead and
stood up as well. He looked over at Rose, who was now smiling. He then noticed
that she no longer had braces. The ones he used as his excuse for calling her
"Buck-tooth."
The bell rang, and Jack checked his schedule.
He had English. He grabbed his books and left the room.
Rose watched as Jack ran out of the room. Her
next class was English. She didn't need it, really, but she took it anyway as
an extra credit.
Rose made her way into her English room with
Mr. Holland. She found her name at a table with a few people she had talked to
the year before, and Jack.
Jack made his way into the room and saw Rose
sitting at a table talking to his sister and another girl, Samantha Downey.
Jamie looked over at her brother and motioned
him over to the table.
Jack walked over there. "Yeah?"
"You sit here," Jamie said,
pointing to the seat next to Rose.
Jack sat down. "Okay."
"You remember Rose, don't you?"
Samantha asked.
"Yeah," Jack said, getting out a
pencil.
Rose gave Jack a small smile.
"Hey."
Jack glanced at Rose and nodded.
"Yeah."
Rose got out her notebook, and started
writing down the supplies she needed this year.
Jack got out a piece of paper and jotted down
the needed supplies for this year, as well.
"So, Rose, are you coming to Eric's
party tonight?" Jamie asked.
Jack glared at his sister, knowing she was
doing this to make him mad.
Rose tucked her hair behind her ear. "I
don't know. I don't think I'd be able to."
"And why is that?" Jack asked.
"Because I don't have anyone to go with.
That, and I think my parents would both have heart attacks at the thought of my
being out past ten," Rose replied.
Jack nodded. Then, Jamie interjected her
thoughts. "Why don't you go with Jack?"
Jack looked at Jamie, and Rose looked at
Jack.
"What?" they both said.
"Well, he's looking for someone to go
with, and so are you," Jamie said.
"Yeah, you two would look so cute
together," Samantha said.
"Who are you going with?" Jack
asked Samantha.
"Dylan," Samantha said, smiling to
herself.
"Cool," Rose said.
"You two need to go together,"
Jamie said.
"I second that thought," Samantha
said, raising her hand.
"Will it make you two happy?" Jack
asked.
Samantha and Jamie both nodded and replied
with, "Yes."
Jack turned to Rose. "Would you like to
go with me?"
Rose's eyes turned a soft shade of green.
"Yes."
