Plot

Taxi Driver is the story of Travis Bickle a lonely New York Taxi Driver. Travis can't understand why people people reject him. After she climbs into his cab Travis meets Iris, a teenage prostitute. Travis pays her a visit in the hope of helping her leave her pimp, known as Sport. Travis resorts to killing Sport as he risks his own life to help Iris.

There is, of course much more to this tale of Travis' increasing lack of mental stability. If you really love this film I suggest that you read the screenplay by Paul Schrader. It gives a real insight into the way that Travis feels. The DVD Special Edition also has interviews with both Paul Schrader and Martin Scorsese. When watching the film look for Scorsese' two guest apperances.
