"Tomb Raider" Rated PG-13
**/*****
Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie as the title character is just what you would expect from the preview. It's an action movie. There is a pretty girl in it. That's all you really need to know. That is pretty much the purpose of the movie. Lara shows cleavage and shoots guns.
The plot, of course, is very thin. It involves a mysterious cult called the Illuminate. They are trying to get two pieces of a magical triangle so that they can have the power of time. They will be able to move back and forth through time. Lara's late father (played by Jolie's real father, Jon Voight) hid a mysterious clock that unlocks the two pieces of the triangle during the planetary alignment, and only during the planetary alignment. Lara is forced to team up with the bad guy in order from them to both get what they want.
I guess the movie serves its purpose. It is mildly entertaining. There are some action scenes. And Angelina Jolie is scantily clad (they even managed to sneak in some nudity). If you liked the Mummy and the Mummy Returns, which you shouldn't have, you might like this movie.
