HANNIBAL

Cast:

Anthony Hopkins
Julianne Moore
Ray Liotta
Giancarlo Gianni
Gary Oldman

Hannibal is set in Florence, Italy, a decade after the events of Silence Of The Lambs, in which psychopath Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) was interviewed by FBI agent Clarice Starling (originally played by Jodie Foster) while in the custody of a maximum-security prison. Then he escaped. Hannibal picks up where that film left off--with the deranged Lecter now free as a bird in Italy, and Starling (Julianne Moore) still on his trail. A terrifyingly horrific story based on the novel by Thomas Harris, the film takes viewers on a sickening journey through Lecter's violent, cannibalistic mind.

Directed by Ridley Scott - Rated R

Critic Review

This was crap. What more is there to say? If you start a movie off with style, class, and dignity, at least try to sustain a certain level of that dignity throughout the movie. This movie did nothing of the sort. It went from a classy and entertaining first half, to a sickening and almost stupid conclusion. I expected so much more from the sequel to such a great film as Silence Of The Lambs. Ridley Scott did not choose the right movie to direct, not like his amazing Gladiator. Overall, this movie lacked the elements which make a quality film, such as plot, acting (Oldman, Liotta, and Gianni were terrible), and resolution. "Hannibal bites!" "A mildly entertaining film." Back
