Critic Review

I won't lie to you. I went into this movie with the worst impression. I expected a real sleeper. Unfortunately, to my suprise, it wasn't half bad. However, it wasn't half good either. This is one of those movies that lives under the shadow of hype. People are given the impression that it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. But when they leave the theater, they have a feeling of lack. I came out feeling like it really just ended. It didn't have any sort of wrap-up or "so what?". On truth, I expected better from such an acclaimed filmmaker as Robert Zemeckis. I don't really see Tom Hanks as being even a half decent actor, but his role deserved some credit. A nomination, but no more. I didn't really see what the point of the story was. You spend two hours on an island. There is no outside view. I understand the certain implications surrounding this idea, but it just doesn't work in Hollywood. It would be better if there was more validity to the story. Personally, I can't say it was terrible. But I can say that I was very disappointed. "Cast Away is lost." "A clever idea that leaves you stranded."
