WHAT IS THIS?

If you have just stumbled upon this site and have no idea what it is... heres a little help!

This site is based on the Toho Co. Ltd. japanese film "Gojira Tai Megaro" or in America "Godzilla vs. Megalon". The 13th Godzilla film was made in 1973 and was directly made for kids... featuring giant robots and karate Godzilla. At this point the Godzilla films had turned from horror films featuring death and destruction to happy go lucky space aliens trying to over power Godzilla to take over the world.

The original Godzilla movie was released in 1954 and shocked the world with it's threat of nuclear destruction. That film was in in stark black and white, intensifing the horror of the film (in which it does).

The sequal that followed the original was also in black and white and featured Godzilla's first rival... Angilas! Godzilla's third appearance was probably the most profitable japanese movie of all time! Godzilla fought the American juggarnaut King Kong. This film was in color and showcased Godzilla a little less menacing than in the two other films. As the Godzilla movies progressed through the 60's, the budgets got lower and thus campier. Adult adiances lost intrest and the movies turned kid freindly. The first film to feature this change was 1967's "Son of Godzilla". Obviously, trying to bring in more kids... Toho gave Godzilla a son who can only breath radioactive rings. The movies plumited into the 70's where most of his original creators had died and the new films were being produced cheaply and had Godzilla doing things never imaginable in 1954.

In "Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster", Godzilla could fly, in "Godzilla vs. Gigan", he talked to his now ally Angilas in plain english and last, but certainly not least... slide on his tail in the site's featured film "Godzilla vs. Megalon"! A few more films followed after "Godzilla vs. Megalon", but then the series died in 1975 with "Terror Of Meechagodzilla" (a movie trying to bring adult audiances back).

Godzilla was revived in 1985, with more sophisticated special effects and more adult storylines (thats not what I mean). Starting with Godzilla 1985, Godzilla was now a menace again fighting monsters like Biollante, Spacegodzilla and Destroyah. Old favorites also returned such as Mothra, Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla. That series ended in 1995, with "Godzilla vs. Destroyah" where he apperantly dies. But you can't keep a good monster down!

In 1999, Toho released "Godzilla 2000", which showcased a new Godzilla design. The sequal "Godzilla X Megururis" was released in Japan in 2001. This series featured the best Godzilla effects yet and better storylines. This also has to be the most menacing Godzilla yet!

Now Godzilla's look is being revamped AGAIN for a new film with King Ghidorah, Mothra and Baragon! This new suit resembles the 1964 Godzilla suit crossed with a rabid dog. Toho promises that this will be the best Godzilla movie since the ones of the 60's. So, this just goes to show you how popular giant radioactive dinosaurs are! So far, there have been 24 Godzilla movies and it looks like Toho won't be ending the series anytime soon! YAY!
