Rebirth of Mothra II

*** What, You Never Saw a Moth Swim?

Well, Toho planed on making a series so they did. This time, they pit Mothra up against something she never did since she was just a little caterpillar: water.

Yet another ancient advanced race of people is at work again (gee, they can't get enough of it, can they?), this time the Nilai-Kanai. They made a giant monster that ended up destroying the race (how original!). It's the giant garbage disposer, Dagahra, who had a defect that makes it spit out lots of these Berum starfish things. Mothra tries to save the day, but gets beat up because she can't swim! Thanks to a bunch of kids who got some furball called a Ghogo (Gorgo?! What the…?), who just so happen to have found a lost pyramid under the ocean, went in, escaped lots of danger, got out, and wished upon a Ghogo, Mothra healed up, turned into Rainbow Mothra, which in turn can turn in to Aqua Mothra, who has enough power to blow up Dagahra real good! Whew.

Well, better than the last one at least. Reasons: Not as much singing and the kids aren't so whinny! This one is for kids and for them only, but it's done in a better, more focused way. The last one went all over the place; this one stayed on track. The special effects are even better, with lots of computer-generated stuff and a very nifty looking pyramid interior. It takes place more personal, with the focus on a few people. Ironically, this one has more death and destruction than the last one. Dagahra is a much better monster than Desghidora was. Except for some bad editing in the beginning, the movie flows very well.

However, this movie is weird, even painfully weird. You have to be a little Japanese kid to understand most of the stuff here (kind of like Pokemon). It has numerous weird and strange parts, too much to mention. It has one of the oddest things I have ever seen: Mothra spitting up into a lot of little mothers and going inside Dagahra and blowing him out from inside his stomach! Odd, very odd.

Well, this movie is better than the last one, but still not spectacular. If you liked the last Mothra movie or if you like thing like Pokemon, you will probably enjoy this one. It isn't as much of a painful rip-off of old Gamera, but old Gamera fans will like this one anyways. Kids and adults that act like kids will probably enjoy it. I don't think anybody will absolutely love it, though. It aint that good.
