Godzilla vs. Mothra

(Godzilla vs. The Thing)

**** Big Lizard Meets Big Moth.

After the success of "King Kong Vs Godzilla", they decided to do it again. This time, they picked one of their own monsters, Mothra. It worked out a lot better.

A giant egg washes up on the shore of Japan. Some rich business men buy it for their own exploiting. Meanwhile, Godzilla pops out of the ground he was stuck in from the last movie. Some reporter people go to Infant Island to ask for Mothra’s help. She agrees, and goes to fight Godzilla, even though she is dying. After fighting Godzilla for a while, Mothra dies. Then, two mothra larva pop out of the egg, and go to defeat Godzilla.

This whole movie was done extremely well, near perfect. The plot is extremely good, telling a tale of big business and reporting. It is another one of those message movies, similar to the original Mothra movie. Speaking of which, Mothra looks a lot better than in her original movie, because of better special effects. The plot is also better than the original, because it goes deeper and more in depth into what they are trying to say. You also get a more in-depth look at the natives of Infant Island and their lifestyle. The plot is good and deep, and not changed much from the Japanese version, probably because it is so good.

The special effects are very good, even compared to today’s standards. They did a good job at making the whole thing look almost real. There was a lot of special effects scenes in here, especially in the part were they are trying a bunch of ways to stop Godzilla. Somewhere I heard that the part were the Americans shoot missiles at Godzilla wasn’t in the Japanese movie. I guess the American people could put something worthwhile in afterall! The special effect scenes take up a lot of the movie, so it rarely shys away from Godzilla action. As I said before, Mothra looks better, and Godzilla does to from previous movies. Just about everything was done well for the special effects.

This movie isn’t perfect, though. Because those little girls are in this movie, there is that annoying singing! It doesn’t last long, luckily, only taking up two small parts. There is also some other parts that are kind of weird, but most can be written off as culture clash. The special effects aren’t perfect, either. Godzilla’s lip seems to be a bit jiggly. Also, in the missile scene, the people on the ships seem to be a bit of a bad aim( how could you miss something as big as Godzilla?). Now the reason why I gave this movie a four instead of a five is because I am reserving that for my favorite one, and this isn’t the best according to me. It comes pretty close though.
