Water is many positive things but for me it also the shadow, the element that is most poorly represented in my astrological chart.  The thing that is the opposite of what I am.

Water
Water is the cleansing, healing, psychic, loving element.
Water supports us when we swim; gives us life when we are dehydrated.
The energy of this element is vital to our well-being as humans, for it contains within it the essence of love. Thus, fire transforms objects into new forms: heat, light, ash and smoke. Love is the undying reason for all magic. Water IS love.

Water is the element of insight, motivation, and social contacts - One divides water into:
Living (or flowing) which reflects a person's drive and effectiveness in society.
Dead (or still).- reflects a person's clearness of mind
Rules:
Emotions, love sorrow, courage, the unconscious, psychism, sensitivity, tides, oceans, pools, streams, well, womb
Virtues:
Devotion, compassion, serenity, trust, tranquility, tenderness, forgiveness, modesty, fluidity in creativity, receptivity, emotional stability, awakened psychic ability
Vices:
Immaturity, dishonestly, self-indulgence, apathy, negligence, indifference, instability, moodiness, cowardice, vulnerability, pessimism, depression, infatuation, delusions
People born under the Water element have above average skills in interpersonal relations and persuasion. They communicate well and are able to wear away any opposition from others through their firm, constant but unobtrusive efforts. They also have the capability to advance their ideas by influencing the thoughts of others. By nature, people born under the Water element are flexible, intuitive, diplomatic and unimposing. They have an eye for spotting things that have potential. Once identified, Water element people are naturals at getting the project rolling. Their flair lies in recognizing and using the talents and resources at their fingertips. Fortunately, they never make others feel that they are being made used of. Water people tend to be too conciliatory and will look for the easiest way out. At their worst, they can be inconstant and passive. They also tend to lean too much on others for support. If they want to be effective, they must be more persuasive and assertive. Only then, can they realize their dreams.
