Legacies of Families

McDohl Family

Teo McDohl (IS 415-456)
One of the Six Great Generals of the Scarlet Moon Empire. He served under Barbarossa since the Succession War. During the Succession War, he had a duel with Pahn and defeated him. Since then, Pahn has worked under him. Teo was often sent to the Northern borders with Jowston to keep watch over the Jowston forces, and thus was rarely home in Gregminster. His wife died soon after giving birth to Tir McDohl, and his long-time servant, Gremio, has been taking care of his son ever since.

Teo is powerful and competent, both as a swordsman and a general. He is often referred to as "The General who never loses." He leads the armored cavalry, which is virtually unstoppable. In battle, he commands two Lieutenant Generals: Alen the "Fire General" and Grenseal the "Thunder General." Their loyalty towards Teo is without question. Teo's former subordinate, Ain Gide, is good friend of his and is also the captain of the Capital Defense Force. Shortly before the Gate Rune Wars, Teo was given a sword called "Prakk" from Emperor Barbarossa.

During the Gate Rune Wars, Teo was initially ordered to keep defending the northern borders. However, he was ordered to destroy Rokkaku and then attack the Liberation Army. He lead his Armored Cavalry towards Toran Castle, easily defeating the Liberation Army. However, in their final attack, the Liberation Army used "Fire Spears" and completely annihilated Teo's Armored Cavalry. After the defeat, he challenged Tir, the leader of the resistance, to a duel. He lost. In death, he was content that his son had surpassed his own skill.

Tir McDohl (Hero) (IS 440--)
The son of Teo McDohl. For the purposes of this website, he is known as Tir. He became the leader of the Toran Liberation Army after the death of Odessa Silverberg. Growing up, his father was strict, but Gremio (who took care of him while his father was away) gave him kind guidance. He was taught the art of stick-fighting by Kai when he was young, but when Kai suddenly left, he began training on his own.

When he was young, he was abducted by rogues. Fortunately, Gremio saved him and he has been grateful ever since.

Upon reaching adulthood, Tir was put into the Royal Guards with the blessing of Emperor Barbarossa himself. However, he was put under the cowardly Captain Kraze. Working under Kraze and with Vice-Captain Kanaan showed McDohl the corruption running rampant through the Empire.

When Windy, the court magician, discovers that Ted possesses the Soul Eater, Tir accepted the Soul Eater from him so that he could hide it from Windy. He escapes from Gregminster with the help of Viktor, who introduces him to Odessa. He works with the Liberation Army, learning the hardships of being a leader from Odessa. When she is killed, he escapes from the Land of Arlus into the Gouran Area and finds Mathiu Silverberg, her brother. There, he convinces Mathiu to join the Liberation Army and soon frees Toran Castle from the zombie dragon's curse. He was thrust into the leadership of the Liberation Army when Mathiu recognized his ability to lead people.

Since then, he participated in many battles, losing Gremio, Ted, and Teo (who he killed himself), all because of the curse of the Soul Eater. He was able to bring Gremio back with the power of the 108 Stars of Destiny, but all of the losses have deeply affected him. When the war was over, he was supposed to become the first President of the Toran Republic. However, he left Toran with Gremio, putting Lepant in charge.

Gremio (IS 431--)
A soldier in the Scarlet Moon Army during the Succession Wars, he fought under General Teo. After the war, he became a servant in Teo's household, and eventually became a permanent baby-sitter for Tir. When Tir was still young, he was kidnapped by rogues. Gremio rushed into their hideout and kill them all with his axe, rescuing Tir. He received the scar on his left cheek during that battle. Since then, he has etched the words "I will protect my Master" on his axe.

During the Gate Rune Wars, Gremio acted as Tir's bodyguard and confidant. He accompanied Tir in almost every action the Liberation Army executed. During the operation to rescue Doctor Liukan from Soniere Prison, the squad was trapped in a sealed chamber where General Milich Oppenheimer released his flesh-eating Spores of Agony. Gremio opened the door, allowing everyone else to escape while he stayed behind to keep the door closed, condemning himself to a slow and painful death.

Once the 108 Stars of Destiny were gathered together, however, he was brought back to life through their power and the Gate Rune. After the war, he left Toran with Tir and has been traveling with him ever since.

Ted (IS 140-456)
The original owner of the Soul Eater, True Rune of Life and Death, for over 300 years. He was born in the "Village of the Hidden Rune." The village was destroyed by Windy, Yuber, and Neclord. Ted was given the Soul Eater and wound up as the only survivor. Since then, he has wandered the world alone.

During his travels, the Soul Eater was removed once, but after ten years of searching, he reclaimed it.

While the Scarlet Moon Empire was at war with Jowston, General Teo found him wandering a battlefield. Thinking that he was a war orphan, Teo brought him home. Ted soon became good friends with Tir. He had never had a friend in 300 years of wandering, so this was a great comfort. He hid the Soul Eater from the McDohl family by wearing gloves at all times. He explained that his hand was badly burned during the war to escape suspicion. However, when McDohl was sent to defeat the bandits at Mt. Seifu, Ted used the Soul Eater to defeat the Queen Ant. Seeing this, Kanaan informed Windy. Windy summoned Ted to the palace, and there he realized that she was the one who had destroyed his village. He barely escapes the palace, getting severely injured in the process. He gets to the McDohl household and asks Tir to accept the Soul Eater. Tir agrees, allowing Ted to set himself up as a decoy while Tir escapes with the Soul Eater.

After being captured, Windy takes control of his body using the conqueror rune. She tried to use him to take the Soul Eater back from Tir, but with his last bit of strength, Ted commanded the Soul Eater to take his own life.

Cleo (IS 430--)
A soldier under the command of General Teo since the Succession Wars. She is highly experienced and never loses her temper in battle. She served under Teo for so long that she became a permanent member of the McDohl household. To Tir, she is like an older sister, and she protects him under all circumstances. She has a talent in magic use, and when McDohl was sent to Magician's Island, Leknaat gave her a fire rune, because she saw that Cleo was a true "protector" of Tir. Since then, she has accompanied Tir on many battles. Although she saw her comrades die in battle, she never shed a tear.

After the war, Cleo retired from military duty and maintains the McDohl household while their various occupants are gone.

Pahn (IS 429--)
A soldier under Geil Rugner during the Succession Wars. He confronted General Teo on the battlefield in a duel, but lost. Afterwards, he swore fealty to Teo and became a member of the McDohl household.

Pahn is a very muscular man, constantly in training. He is a "boar warrior," and overpowers his enemies with brute force. He owns a Boar rune, which allows him to unleash a barrage of powerful strikes.

During the Gate Rune Wars, Pahn was the one who informed Kraze that Ted had returned to the McDohl household after escaping from the palace. Pahn didn't want to bring trouble into the McDohl household and his actions were due to his loyalty to Teo McDohl. However, this action betrayed Tir. Later, Kraze abducts Eileen with Pahn following behind. Kraze orders Pahn to attack Tir, but Pahn realizes his error and instead attacks Kraze. Afterwards, he became a part of the Liberation Army.

When the Liberation Army is defeated by Teo's Armored Cavalry, Pahn stays behind to stop Teo's troops. Teo orders Pahn to stand aside, but instead, Pahn challenges him to a duel. Pahn barely wins, allowing the Liberation Army enough time to prepare the Fire Spears that would later defeat General Teo.

After the war, Pahn goes on a journey to better himself. He returns to Gregminster a few years later when he runs out of money. He remains an avid eater.

Blight Family

Maroux Blight
Maroux was a noble within the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia, but he quenched a rebellion and was granted his own land in return. He was also given the Beast Rune from High Priest Sasarai, which has been passed on through the Blight Family.

Robert Blight
Robert was the King of Highland when Darrel, mayor of Muse, attacked Highland. Robert ordered Han Cunningham to retaliate and counterattack, which pushed Muse forces out of Muse, causing them to take refuge in Two River City. Robert died during the war, which brought Agares, his son, to the throne.

Agares Blight (IS 408--)
Agares was the son of Robert Blight and father to Luca Blight. He wished for peace between Highland and Muse, and soon after his father's death, proposed a truce.

However, Darrel refused to give up Kyaro. Agares proposed a duel between Genkaku and Han Cunningham, which ended in Han's victory. An embittered Darrell hired ruffians to attack the royal entourage. Agares escaped, but his wife Sara and Luca were captured. Agares ran to L'Renouille in fear, and Han rushed to Sara and Luca's rescue. However, the ruffians had already raped Sara and Luca had witnessed the ordeal.

Agares felt guilt over his cowardice until his death, which was amplified once Sara died soon after giving birth to Jillia, who was fathered during the rape.

Sara Blight (IS ??-445)
Sara was the wife of Agares. She hails from a powerful family within the Highland Kingdom, and gave birth to Luca soon after the marriage. Agares was greatly gladdened for having an heir. However, when the royal entourage was ambushed by Muse ruffians hired by Darrel, she was taken hostage and raped repeatedly in front of Luca. This caused her to become pregnant with Jillia. She died soon after giving birth.

Luca Blight (IS 434--)
Luca, known as the "Mad Prince," was the son of Agares. However, he has power over Highland even though his father is still alive. He witnessed Sara, his mother, being raped by Muse ruffians hired by Darrel when he was 10, and since then had an incredible hatred toward both Jowston and his cowardly father.

He plots to keep the war between Highland and Muse constantly, reveling in death and destruction.

Jillia Blight (IS 445--)
Jillia was conceived when her mother was raped by Muse ruffians hired by Darrel. However, she treats Agares with respect and doesn't mind that he is not her real father. She is strong-willed, but no match for Luca. She is the only person Luca considered an "equal," due to her resemblance to Sara.

Silverberg Family

Julian Silverberg
A legendary strategist who helped Karnach Rugner become independent from Harmonia without any bloodshed, creating the Scarlet Moon Empire more than 200 years ago.

Leon Silverberg
The current head of the Silverberg family. He is well known throughout the world as a "genius strategist," and was involved in many wars, including the Succession War, the Toran Liberation Wars, and the Dunan Unification War. He is the uncle of Mathiu and Odessa and took care of them after the death of their parents (Leon's brother). He lives by his strategic maxim of "ending war as fast as possible with the fewest casualties." To achieve that he will use whatever means necessary, and to him, it doesn't matter which side wins.

He also holds a terrible grudge against Shu, reasons unknown.

Mathiu Silverberg
Mathiu Silverberg is the brother of Odessa and nephew of Leon, and is a well-known strategist. He became a member of the Scarlet Moon military during his youth, but left the army after the Kalekka Incident, when he realized that war inevitably causes innocents to suffer. However, he became the Army Strategist for the Toran Liberation Army following the death of Odessa, and led the army to victory--although he lost his life in the process. The peace-loving strategist who ends up causing many wars due to his strategy of taking Moravia. His taking of Moravia directly led to Toran's war with Jowston and triggered Luca Blight's invasion of Jowston.

Odessa Silverberg
Odessa Silverberg is the sister of Mathiu and niece to Leon. She was the founder of the Toran Liberation Army after becoming the leader of the revolutionary movement started by her ex-fiancé, Achilles. During her actions within the Liberation Army, she was killed by Imperial Forces. However, she planned far ahead for the Liberation Army, which allowed them to win the war.

Shu
Shu is not a Silverberg, but was a student of the Silverberg School of strategy. He was a student of Mathiu at his school in Seika, and showed great talent in military strategy. However, he was expelled due to using his knowledge for personal gain. The last known rumor is that he settled in Radat, using his knowledge to make money in trade.

Apple
Apple is also a non-Silverberg, but her actions show she is a Silverberg at heart. She was also a student of Mathiu, and a surrogate sister to Shu. She has a deep respect for Mathiu, and helped him during the Toran Liberation Wars. She also served as Army Strategist for Viktor's mercenary before the Dunan Unification War became serious. She is working on Mathiu’s biography, feeling his story should be told.

Vampires and their Hunters

Vampires are a unique class of beings within the Suikoden World. Their purpose is a mystery, but the fact that one True Rune is entirely dedicated to their existence points to the undeniable truth that they are necessary to the world--for some reason.

Vampires in the Suikoden world are different from vampires known elsewhere--for example, crosses don't work against them (Christianity doesn't exist in Suikoden), and vampires can walk in broad daylight once they become powerful enough. They do need to feast on the living to survive, just like how vampires are typically understood.

However, under the influence of the Blue Moon rune, their lust for blood is satisfied by the "compassion" that the Blue Moon rune grants upon them.

Official record states that Sierra Mikain is the original vampire (referred to as the "Coven Mistress"), was forced to become a vampire nearly 800 years ago. Vampires were not a violent race under the guidance of Sierra. However, after Neclord stole the Blue Moon rune, some vampires turned into carnivores, feasting upon the flesh of mankind.

This gave rise to vampire hunters. The first documented case of a human slaying a vampire can be seen in the "Nameless Land Chronicles," where a local noble by the name of Wilder is listed to have slain a vampire.

Vampires are powerful beings though, with vast powers, which are intrinsic to the nature of vampires. All vampires have incredible strength and can cast a trove of spells, summon undead, and turn into bats. They also require special methods to be destroyed, and mere brute force can never destroy a vampire. For that reason, vampire hunting is a seldom chosen path by the average folk, and only those with great hatred towards the vampiric ilk would have the courage... or insanity to pursue their course.

Sierra Mikain
Sierra Mikain is the "Coven Mistress" of the Vampires. She is the "original," chosen by the Moon Rune to be the first of her kind. She existed long before any written history--even before the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia was created. However, while empires formed and crumbled, she remained the same, living alone in a cottage in the forest for centuries until she founded the Village of the Blue Moon.

No one knows where she came from originally. However, she was born as a human being, but came in contact with the Moon Rune at the age of 16. For centuries since she was unable to control the Moon Rune's lust for blood, and thus she took refuge within the forest to keep herself from taking blood from other living beings.

After Neclord stole her Moon Rune, she has been pursuing him for over 400 years.

Neclord
Neclord became a vampire when he wandered into the Village of the Blue Moon. He was well liked in the village due to his cheerful nature and intelligence. However, one night he stole the Blue Moon Rune from the village, forcing all the citizens other than Sierra to die or follow the path of the predator.

Since then, Neclord has become allies with Windy and Yuber, and together they have participated in much destruction. He also likes to abduct young women as his bride. He was the one who killed Kahn Marley's grandfather and father.

Recently, he destroyed Northwindow because he became bored. This resulted in him creating an unlikely nemesis, Viktor, who had enough willpower to become the bearer of the Star Dragon Sword. This led to Neclord being defeated in doppelganger form during the Gate Rune Wars. However, Neclord is still alive and his whereabouts are unknown.

Star Dragon Sword
The Star Dragon Sword is the bearer of the Night Rune, one of the 27 True Runes. He is the ultimate anti-vampire weapon. He has the power to "expose a vampire's true form" so normal attacks can hurt them. He has existed for a very long time, and was not always a sword. Apparently he is some other type of being who is willfully taking the form of a sword. It seems like he has met Sierra before, and Sierra tells him "you surely are an odd one to take the form of a sword." The Star Dragon Sword is very arrogant, and often turns against its bearer when not adequately appeased. This happens a few times after Viktor became his bearer.

Wilder
Wilder was the first human to successfully destroy a vampire. His name only appears in an ancient text called the "Nameless Lands Chronicles," excavated from the Nameless Lands, and it is uncertain how exactly he did this. It is said that he was a local noble in the area.

Kahn Marley
Kahn Marley is the current head of the Marley family, an aristocratic family in Harmonia. He has been traveling for years in search of Neclord, who killed his father and grandfather. The Marley family has been a family of vampire hunters since lands that belonged to the Marley family was attacked by Neclord. He had fought Neclord with his father, but his father was killed in that battle and Kahn barely escaped. Since that day he swore to avenge the death of his father and to bring justice to the name of Marley.

He came to Jowston shortly before the Dunan Unification Wars after following Sierra Mikain all the way from Harmonia. He wanted to ask Sierra where Neclord might be, but he lost track of her somewhere around Muse, and ended up in Greenhill.

Viktor
Viktor was a victim of Neclord's random destruction of Northwindow. Viktor lost all his family and his childhood sweetheart, Daisy due to that tragedy, and since then has sworn to his sword to destroy Neclord. During the Gate Rune Wars, Viktor found Neclord in Lorimar, and was able to "destroy him" with the aid of the Star Dragon Sword. He is unaware that Neclord is still alive.
